Yes you have to build the enclosures so breaks the budget. :) However if done correctly IMO they are competitive with some far more spendy commerial products.I built a pair several years ago for use as my desktop monitors.

Those Signets and their bigger brothers the 280's were well executed 2 ways back in the day.

LSA-1. $599, incredible stage and imaging. Was skeptical but ended up blown away. So much so I'm seriously considering the 1-Statement with upgraded crossover and folded ribbon tweeter for $1600.

  • If we are listing speaks not in production, SDS-400 is the current fav.
You can send the soundstage out 4 feet to either side
and have it still make sense musically.

I kept seeing the LSA-1 on underwood's emails but, I didn't know anyone who had hard one. So they are worth it? Before I picked up the PSB, I almost bought the LSA-2 for $1200.

If you can find the Polk LSi7's for sale (used since they are discontinued) then do so. I kind of like them over my modded LSi9's or my LSiM703's. Not really rational, but I think it's because they sound so good for their size.

Skip, I think Underwood bought them out? Yep just looked it up "Underwood Hifi has purchased LSA."
I still think my next are going to be Dynaudio c1 or one or 2 below that model. The reviews on the LSA1 are good especially at $599 for the ones kharp1 shows here.

Depends on how you define "bargain". Not sure if $200 is really the line in this thread. However, I did pick up a used pair of LSi7's for $202 shipped from Ebay about 3 years ago. But my second pair was bought from Polk direct for $350 shipped. Still a great price, IMO.

Now the post I was going to make. I heard some Wharfedale Dentons ($500 pr) at a fiend of a friend's house, and was pretty impressed - if you like smooth, which I do. Anybody else listen to these?

Good point. Those are a steal if you can find them. $400 in drivers alone.

Problem is now I feel like it's my DUTY to go up the chain lol...

.. been away for awhile. Sorry

Object was to provide options for the next generation to buy bargain classic speakers . ....under $200.00

    and then

Classic Amp and preamp under - $400.00

... putting together a system for my Godchild !!

Lets pay tribute to the "Past" !!!

Lots of good, used, speaker options available for that price. A "classic" amp and preamp under $400 could be tough. It will be a lot easier to find a good AVR for that amount, I think. Or a nice integrated if you only need stereo.
