I have a PSW111 (serial #AM114524997) purchased April 10, 2010. When powered on, the speaker recently started making a "heartbeat" sound, even when not receiving sound from any source.

Hello,
The subwoofer came with a 3 year warranty on the bass amplifier and from your post you have passed that period. If you want to buy a replacement amplifier telephone 1-800-377-7655 select option 2 (this is assuming you live in the U.S.). Be sure to mention that you have joined CP which will reduce the price of the amplifier and give you free shipping.
If you need some help taking the old amplifier out of the cabinet, just ask.
Regards, Ken

Perform an EKG. Then check for mitral valve prolapse.

And then give Polk Customer Service a ringy-dingy.

Probably time for a replacement amp in it give the age. Not worth it in my opinion though. You can pick up a 505 sub which is better for under 200 bucks.HT SYSTEM-
