Harsh static crackling noise, Magnifi one

My Magnifi one is connected to a TV via supplied optic cable, and was working perfectly since I purchased it a month ago. Today, it developed occasional hard static noise when I attempted to stream a movie. I tried re-connecting the cable, but it didn't change anything.
My set up didn't change since the purchase.
Is there anything I can do?
