Have you heard them? Color me unimpressed.

Given omnidirectional nature, I would bet a the sound has a lot to do with the sound.

Bet they can sound crappy and great.

I heard them at AXPONA 2016 in the Jolida room where they also had a pair of ELAC F6 floorstanding speakers. I preferred the ELAC > MBL.

I have not heard mbl but I would not discount them unless heard in a proper room and I would not count a hotel room as such... I would be very hesitant to do final judging on show conditions as we all know that can be very misleading.

Skips opinion though is something to chew on if he's heard them in a controlled environment.

That said different strokes for different folks. I am sure these are good speakers as they have quite the following. I am sure they hear something they like.

And not just hearing them in a room... But also knowing the upstreams as certain speakers are highly transparent to the source.

Unless you've had experience in your room, you've not experienced what mbl or another manufacturer can really do given your own personal biases and limitations.

We all agree, hearing a system at some place is one thing but having them at our place is a whole 'nother can of worms.

Who bought speakers they thought sounded good at a dealer or show only to take it home and it didn't sound anything but...?

    I know I have.

Joey, I've heard them in a controlled environment, more than one once and at shows set up by the MBA reps. All occasions have had "top notch" gear upstream. I have never enjoyed their presentation as they lack a defined sound stage and center image. They just don't sound like live music does. Obviously, some folks like them, but I struggle to understand why.
