Off the Floor

I bought a bunch of these hard rubber pads on the cheap from China which are sold to be used with audio gear; the material is basically like a tire...smells like the Tire and Battery section at Sam's Club. Like I said, they were cheap, but they are handy and I can't imagine spending more on something similar.
So now this pair of Monitor 10s is technically off the floor. I'm sure some will scoff and say spikes are much better, but are they really? I can't figure out how on a hardwood floor that spikes (sitting in a rubber shoe) would be any better than this. What do you think?

The Monitor 10s were designed to be used on Polk's stands, which raise them about 5-6" off the floor, with a 6 degree rake for time alignment.

Fair enough. I do plan on building some of those at one point. So what about for SDAs? Pads vs spikes?"This may not matter to you, but it does to me for various reasons, many of them illogical or irrational, but the vinyl hobby is not really logical or rational..." - member on Vinyl Engine

Spikes for both. When you build the base, make the bottom heavy and thick enough to install spikes.Home Theater/2 Channel:

The original RTA-12's need to be lifted off the ground, yes, the B's and C's do not. No revision of the RTA-12's need to be raked, the tweeters are already physically time aligned.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.
