    jbarlow80, you got it.

Just one tip, a big tip at that. Get your AVR off that stand on top of the sub man, you're going to rattle the solder joints loose in it otherwise.

  • Looks like an Onkyo 705 with a notebook cooler on top. The sub10 should be plenty, I would just use the psw as an avr stand.
Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant
  • I built a stand around the sub and put the receiver on it it's an onkyo 707 and I cut racquet balls in half and set the receiver on those for an absorber that notebook cooler keeps the the receiver pretty cool

Yes, we see that, but it doesn't change the fact that your AVR should not be where it is.

As your AVR has plenty of open space around it right now there's no reason to put that cooler on it. The components inside designed to work at certain temperatures, if not allowed to reach those they won't perform their best.

Yes welcome. And I think you have a pretty sweet setup! I am jealous. And I have to admit i have never actually had the pleasure of hearing a RT5000 setup, everything I have read indicates that those subs should destroy the polk psw and klipsch. Do they really make it sound better? Honest question.

And yet, the nut knows ;-)

Those amps on the 3000p's are pretty old and might need some repair....but, it can also be a ground loop issue or cable issue. The cheapest way to determine is to lift the ground on the power cords for those amps. The easiest way to do that is to go buy a couple 2 dollar cheater plugs at any hardware store or Home Depot. A cheater plug attaches to the end of the power cord and turns it from a 3 prong plug to a 2 prong plug.

Having too many grounded plugs on one wall outlet can result in some ground loop issues. You can also try plugging them into a different wall outlet than the rest of the system is on. I've had those exact speakers and was always fighting hum issues.
