Do threads with pictures load slow for you?

Feels like I'm back in the dial up days at 28K with my US Robotics Sportster modem.

Pictures load so sllllooowwww on this website.

Or - is it just me...again?

    No, they load really slow.

Some do. I guess it is a function of how many pictures, and how large they are.

I do know at home on the iPad that it sometimes takes 'forever' for anything to happen, but I blame Comcast and Apple for that.

Well, other threads on other forums that have pictures sure load ALOT faster than here.

Makes me wonder if the site is hosted on a 286 w/ 640k RAM and an old IDE drive over a 10Mbit ethernet.

And, while I'm in a cranky mood - anyone else have threads where the loading icon just spins and spins and never finishes?

The main and sub forum pages complete loading, but individual threads never seem to finish although the content seems to complete.

    What is up with that?

Sounds to me like Pronhub did a number on your devices.
Close a couple cluster of tabs and things should speed up.
As i side, before closing all of those tabs, if you turn up the volume does it sound like a mob of people falling down a flight of stairs?

Yes, the site is extremely slow at loading pictures recently.

Stupid Vanilla not keeping me logged in irritates me more than slow picture loading. I was on the site a bit ago, closed the browser, just opened it to the site, and had to login. It seems like there is a 1-2 month timer, and then it expires, and I have to login again. Happens on the computer and the iPad.

Seems like the real problem is that Vanilla is not compressing images, which would be especially nice for mobile users. I think they're in collusion with mobile providers to use up all my data! >:) Looking at a few For Sale threads just caused a significant spike in my data usage. :s

Shouldn't matter what size people upload. At least the initial view should be compressed.

I try and reduce the size of photos I post due to slow loading. Another thing I wish everyone would do, is when quoting, edit the quote so the images aren't re-posted over and over again.

I don't know, I think that smaller view we see initially is just a scaled down to fit, not a resized version of a larger image.
