I was born and raised in Springfield, which is west of Worcester (pronounced woos-tah if you're east, woos-ter if you're west), so we don't drop all of our Rs. Pretty accurate though.

Pretty much anything ending in R Tony.
Brooklynese is similar in that way, although they drop the R-S and add a Z if it's plural.

The "R" drop-off only exists within a 20 mile radius of Boston. Outside of that, we're somewhat normal. I can't speak for cfrizz....

I've lived in New England for so long, terms like "Bang a U-ie" are invisible to me as being regional.

We call them sunfish.
I was an HVAC Service Tech when I was younger, and Auburn, Natick, and Framingham definitely dropped their Rs.

At least "we" have a sense of humah on the topic. MassDOT famously used this as a 'public service announcement' on its signage on I-93 a while back.



Oh, as an aside, if you're not from around here and someone gives you directions that include "route 128", you'll need to translate that to "I-95" Unless of course you're east of Danvahs and Peeb'dy, in which case it is route 128.

Oh, as an aside, the sign photo I posted looks like the on-ramp to the Expressway north bound at Exit 18 just south of the Tip O'Neill Tunnel. I get on the highway there every Wednesday night after the class I teach in Bahsten.

I've lived in Palma (thorndike), the burg, frame'n'ham, and now south of wista. Never will I go further east. Traffic and housing costs solidify this.

Neighbor worked at Friendly's in Wilbraham when in Parmer. I've had more reject jubilee rolls than i care to admit.

Springfield, of course, was the birthplace of one T. S. Geisel, later to be known and loved by parents and children both -- and after whom the School of Medicine at Dartmouth (just a hoot 'n' a holler from where I sit typing this) is named.

Indeed. Springfield is the home of many things, Smith and Wesson, Basketball, the Springfield Armory, Indian Motorcycle (my Grandfather worked for them), the Duryea, Rolls-Royce assembly plant.

I sit down to have Dinner, in my Living Room. Never had a Basement and I turn on the tv with my Remote. I walk down Hancock to the biggest Liquor store near me, which fortunately doesn't have a Rotary that out of towners don't know how to navigate. But they do know how to use their Blinkahs.

I never put Jimmies on my ice cream I prefer to eat it plain or with hot fudge at Friendlys which is right next door to Dunkin.

And I don't know where any of you are getting coffee from Cumberland Farms, there aren't any in my area, you must need a car to get to one. But since I don't have a car, There's No way I have to worry about running into a Statie, who will difinitely pull you over for Bangin a Uey on the the wrong street.

Oh and btw, I seriously doubt that the Harvard U Police will let you park your car in Harvard Yard. You will have trouble enough finding parking on the street. You would be better off going in by the T and walking around Harvard Sq. Be sure to stop by Bartley's Burgers for a Wicked good burger! But be careful walking, you can easily trip over the damn brick sidewalks!

I had an Awesome time letting you guys hear my Boston accent.

Now could someone explain to me WTH a Sunfish or Baby wheel is please.

There's a you tube video of a sunfish being improperly identified as a baby whale. The person speaking had a heavy Boston accent, and it comes out as wheel. I'd post a link, but the language is for adults only.
