So the sub I just got back into my house for my loft is WAAAAYYYYYYYY to big for the space, and I still need to buy an amp to drive it.... so I think it prob needs to go... After I just sprayed it and have a NIB driver sitting there for it.... DOH!
Good news is this: I found both the subs in the title locally to me for a SONG. They both are about the price for the AMP I need to buy for the existing sub, so it will save me a bit....
The M&K is 75 CHEAPER than the Outlaw Audio, but either is well within my price range...
I listen to a lot of electronic stuff so I'd like it to dig deep, but I'm going to be on a wood subfloor so that should help a LOT.
Which would you guys get and why?
M&K MX-125 II - Dual 12" push pull drivers, 150 watt amp, 20 Hz - 200 Hz
I know @mantis owned one of these as well as IIRC @VR3
Outlaw Audio LFM-1 - Down Firing, 12" Long-throw Woofer, 325WRMS; 1300W peak amp, 25Hz. -180Hz. +/- 2 dB

Y'all were to slow....
Moving forward with the LMF-1 because its a bit newer, and all downfiring so no fear of kids poking drivers, or breaking a grill.
I think the M&K was probably more musical, but I'm sure I can live with the Outlaw.
Either way I was probably a winner."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
Define "way too big" if you could. Does it have to go directly next to the sofa? Can't you just turn it down? Why are you being such a whimp!
And get that safety knob off of your mechanical room door. Let your kids explore the wonders of HVAC.
You're a "winner" alright.......Where’s the KABOOM?!?! There’s supposed to be an Earth shattering KABOOM!!! -

Well its 6.25 cubic feet in a room thats 14 x 18 wall to wall. So its GOTTA go there, because there is other stuff coming for christmas that will take up just about the only other place to put it. The kids are getting some HUGE A$$ playtent thing that is like 6ft tall x 4 ft wide x 8 ft tall
The safety knob is actually to the closet up there filled with my audio goodies, speaker wire, etc.... they do not get the keys to THAT kingdom anytime soon...
However the utility closet (furnace/HVAC) is right behind them with no safety knobs besides the fact the doors are old and ratchety...
Here is how it is setup now, minus the desk and salamander rack lol, and add the Ushers on top of the cheap sonys...
The tent thing is going to basically cover that whole section with the window and whatnot, and the speakers will move to the center of the halfwall and the *New* Outlaw Audio sub will be in the middle..
With the sub I have you literally wont be able to get into that closet, which I am in all the time lol...

Got the outlaw, calibrated it with ARC and it made a BIG difference in how CLEAN the ushers sounded since I dont need them to really do much below 60hz.
I plan to play around with the crossover points eventually and say have the Ushers and Outlaw overlap from around 80hz down to 40, but for now I am going to leave it alone till I get the sub placed in its final home and some other odds and ends figured out.
