Focal 1038be - good speakers

Had some free time this afternoon so I went to my buddy's place... He has Oppo into Mac into Focal 1038be.

Good sound. Surprised at how musical it was through the 4ohm taps on the Mac integrated.

Bass was a little think at times and dynamics were a little less than on my system, but I can sit there and appreciate the sound. Staging was fantastic in terms of height and volumetrics.

I know a few here dig focal...

    Those are the ones I heard at an audio dealer, I thought they sounded thin and forward but everyone has their preference.

    On 8phm taps it sounded thinner but not on 4ohm taps. To me.

    Interestingly enough I thought the treble was definitely trying to say hi... But for the most part the treble seemed controlled

    I had always pined for these speakers. I did own the 826Ws. They were very bright, so I gave up on my dream of owning these. These do have the beryllium tweeters though and probably sound different.

    They're not for me (to bright for my taste) but they have quite a following. Different strokes for different folks and that's totally cool man.
