you-tube concerts sound off

I was trying to watch some concerts on my big t.v. and the while the sound was great it was not synced up w/ the action on stage. Is this a common occurrence, a flaw w/ my machine or something else. I have a VGA splitter under my desk and a long VGA monitor cable from my machine to the big t.v. and I have no other problems other than these certain concerts which is not fun to watch at all . Any clue ?

Does it happen when watch it on your regular computer monitor?

Have you tried to change the resolution of the video to like 1080 > 720 or vice versa?

Yes it does. On some concerts here is some twirling thing in the middle and sometimes the concert does not advance at all but the music continues. Where does one change resolution of the video ? This is one big problem not all that versed w/ the machine. My Toshiba in the living room is fine and like I said before the music is clear as can be.

Sounds like the video is trying to buffer but can't keep up.

Will attach picture to show where to change resolution. It might fix the issue if you go to 480p or something.

I just tried that icon and it just says auto or 360. I tried both settings and nothing really happened. Oh, I went into other options and it lists what You-Tube is really compatible w/ such as a browser and software. Fire Fox I'm using is ok but the woefully outdated Windows XP might be the issue which is not mentioned nor backed up any more. Besides the fact I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Not sure if Windows XP will not work but it is possible as it doesn't get updates anymore. Have you tried a different browser like IE or Chrome and see what happens?

I have not and what that info thing said was all Chrome functions were accepted. Not sure I'm going to d/l Chrome.

Try internet explorer as it should be built onto your computer and see if the same issue happens. Report back.

Cody, I did that and it came up we do not support this browser any more.... I know were trying .lol

Hey Lew. Most current video streams are designed for Adobe Flash, however that's changing due to the never-ending security bugs with Flash. A modern Flash or .FLV file is a container file. The Audio and Video portions of the file are separate, and the contained keeps them in sync. The data rate for video is much higher than audio. If you have a slow internet connection, outdated browser or Flash Player Plugin, you will have all types of problems. The "Swirling Thing", is the player trying to buffer the stream. Apparently, your player is buffering the video, but not the audio. In addition, your computer's CPU, Graphics Card or IGP, must be capable of handling the type of video being played. Modern video streams use advanced formats such as MPEG4/AVC, or VP8/VP9. These formats require fairly decent CPUs and GPUs.
I would try Chrome, since it automatically updates Flash.

Holy sh#t Dave you hit it on the head. Some videos or sites say I need an Adobe Flash and I tried to d/l the thing and my machine is so outdated it just won't do it. I had a problem I forget what it was w/ Google Chrome and ditched it. Maybe I'll try that again. I have a 26 y/o Gateway tower w/ a new hard drive and originally was using Internet Explorer which was so slow and outdated and not backed up I even saw the difference when I switched to FireFox as my browser or search engine. Beyond that I clearly need to get that book Computers for Putzs because still to this day I don't know what 3/4 of the keys do like all those F keys on top. Stupid me would mess everything up by trying. Following prompts I can do, barely. I think my actual software if that's what it's called is Windows XP. My bro in law an actual IT guy who can build his own machine and went to school for it when I ask him stuff he has zero patience and tells me to go to the library, what a dick.. Oh, ages ago one of the Steve's here was trying to help me out w/ posting pic or something to that effect and ask him what it was like. Kids 4 y/o/ know more than I do. Typing on the other hand came easy to me....
Boys and girls there really is a reason the machine passed me by.This is not the Dr.Phil show so I'll just keep that to myself and plug along.

You're using a computer from the Windows 3.0 era, probably a 486 CPU? Come on, no way.

I'm talking w/o absolute knowledge here, but I think it had to be upgraded along the way besides the new hard drive so I didn't get my nephew's stuff. It works for most things I need but others surely it's outdated. Thing is if I do change to another browser like Chrome do I loose all my favorites or bookmarks as Fire Fox calls them ? I have a boat load of sites how would I transfer all if indeed that's what happens and common sense kinda says yes I would lose them.

Back up in the dial up days I would hit play on a video then once it had started hit pause. If you watch the status bar at the bottom of the video it will continue to buffer. Once the status bar makes it fully to the right hit play for the fully buffered video.

I was the one who talked with you about uploading images. We got there but it took some doing.

Lew, when you install Chrome, you can import all you favorites/bookmarks from IE or Firefox.
