You have no idea how many times I've heard that line. And yes I remember the commercial, but just barely.
Well popped in my good ole trusty RCA black plates to burn in over night, and have the system a listen tonight...all I can say is wow... Haven't messed with them for quite some time, nice and balanced from top to bottom with great bass. And boom! Everything seemed to flesh out, male voices seem deeper, the piano sounds more natural, before it sounded a little thin, much better now. Thank goodness for tubes!

I have lots of experience with these tubes. These are NOS triple mica tubes which are a little micro phonic, I haven't noticed any sound degradation from using one tube damper on the top mica. I have tried 2 on each tube and it collapses the sound stage. These tubes are warm and rich, with a massive sound stage. Without the damper you can hear them ring slightly when switching between sources, but I haven't heard any feedback from them while playing music.
I stuck in my 1962 BP JRC commands over night and will see how they do tomorrow. These are dead quiet, with support rods between micas, you can flick them and not get any noise from them. They have a similar sonic character but a little more clean, and not quite as warm.2 channel:

Well today is one week with the bryston, I've been listening every night. System has been on for a week straight, it sounds great, but over time I've felt at higher volumes it can get a little fatiguing. This has left me bummed out. I have some serious room treatments, bass traps up front, first and second reflection points treated. As well as the back wall, and of course the ugly shag carpet. So tonight I went full bore into tweaks, moved the speakers back about 6 inches and toed them out ever so slightly. I found a spec for focal electras the rule Of thumb was 10 degrees of toe. Stole an angle meter from work and sat back for another listen.... Put on tracks I found fatiguing and I have to say I'm amazed! Soundstage has widened, no harshness at all, things have smoothed out. Im constantly amazed what fine adjustments can do in this hobby. An inch here and an inch there is a mile in the long run.2 channel:

Also have to say, borrowed some nordost sort cones for under my pre amp. They didn't have the cheap ones so they lent me the titanium, with ceramic ball cones, which are about 1100 bucks for three. anyway, a complete rip off! The amount of improvement was minuscule at best. I have better results with an acacia wood board with vibrapod cones underneath, for a total investment of 62 bucks. Actually I'm going to use the same combo under my CD player and TT, I already have the cones, so it's a win, win.2 channel:

Mickieb128, a suggustion, (this error I have made myself) be careful of makeing more than one tweet at a time as almost all tweeks will make some kind of a diff (good and bad) it can be frustrating to determine which one is responsible for the good vs bad changes when done on mass. It is easy to get going on several diff ones in the search for a "sound" but it can drive you crazy trying to figure out which one is responsible and can set you back to the beginning to try to figure out.one tweet, listen, if change is uneventful switch back and try a diff one. Sometimes it's a combo, so word to the wise. For me I have to watch myself carefully as I have done this more than once.Main Rig:

Hey Mikey, is your demo time over? Did you place an order for a new Bryston?

My demo time is over, I put down a deposit and ordered one. I'm looking at over a month for mine to arrive. The amp was sounding better and better the more time I spent with it. I believe it still needed some break in despite it being a demo and having 100 hours put on it from factory. Everything seemed to smooth out, highs settled down, everything was awesome. Still have to hook back up my B&Ks, going to take a break from the system for a bit. I spent so much time with the bryston (it was that good) and too many really late nights, I'm tuckered out.

Am curious to hear your thoughts on break in when the new on arrives.

So when you get the Bryston, which by the way are remarkable amps and company for that matter. I have sold many and love love love the way they sound. They power anything with ease. I love Bryston amps.
So whats gonna go on with the B&K Mono's? Are the Reference 200.1's?Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -

It sounds as if you certainly took advantage of your demo period. I have to say that you have piqued my interest in returning to a s.s. amp with balls aplenty.

Not sure what will happen with the B&K's. Contemplating keeping them, but I have too much stuff already, so will probably sell them. I have no idea what they would be worth, there isn't much info on them, and I don't have original packaging. Yes they are reference s2 200.1 mono blocks, I must admit they are very, very good for what I paid for them I think 1500$ 2 years ago from the original owner, they were 4 years old when I picked them up, right around the time B&K went under.2 channel:

Have to give the guys over at absolute audio and video in Calgary a huge thanks! Headed over there on Saturday for a customer appreciation day, some big name guys were there, sim audio, nordost, and ayre I believe. Lots of food, beer and wine, and of course music! Got to audition the new monitor audio platinums, and a lot of expensive gear. I received an additional 10% off an already great price for the 4B3. It's nice that a Canadian company will give an even better price to its citizens. I almost feel like I payed used prices for a great amp. I don't feel it's fair to post actual prices here, but I will gladly let you know via pm. Now the long wait!2 channel:
