Took mine about 400 watts of sunfire power to get those big boys to really sing. And they wanted more.

Well it so happens I'm listening to my A9s this very minute in pure direct mode with the Parasound A31 Halo. If you use the A7s as rears get the A51 5 channel. I'm using A5'S and A3's as surrounds the AVR will handle them with ease.

Thank you for your response.Yes and No, I was expecting a more detailed answer as to the pairing with the yamaha and the RTIs. So i guess any big amp will pair well with my future set up?

Sigh, I was expecting more detailed questions. You only get back what you put in.

    So............

Is this going to be for HT only or music too?

Do you like the sound signature of what you have now or does it seem bright?

    How big is your room?

How much do you want to spend?

    Etc.

Parasound, Sunfire and W4S. As much clean power as your budget allows to really open them up.

    Frogman,

Forgive the short and blunt answers, but we get that question a lot around here and we risk sounding like parrots all the time. More info is generally needed to better match up gear, but generally speaking.....for budget amps to mate with RTI series speakers.....Hard to beat Parasound HCA 1200 or 1500 series amps and B&k AMPS. Either can be found in the 350-500 buck range used and mate very well with those speakers.

How about two Parasound Halo A23 amps in mono for each front speaker? You can add another for the center channel if you feel the need. One should be able to handle the surrounds in stereo mode if the AVR can't handle the center and surrounds on its own.

Are you using a sub? What are the crossover points? If the Polk speakers aren't reproducing the full frequency spectrum it takes a huge load off the AVR.

  • The guys on this forum pointed me into buying a b&k 7250 recently. I also have it powering my rtia9 and to me I couldn't be more happier. I don't think I missed a single day since I've brought the amp home that it hasn't been powered on to play music. It's just that much more enjoyable. I've also been playing my rtia9 powered by my parasound hca1200ii and hca1000 in mono today just to messed around. The b&k is tad laid back on the highs if I was to compare the sound of the two amp. I don't think you can go wrong with either amp or any recommendations from these guys on this forum.

Bedroom consist of NHT model 2 powered by Parasound hca1200ii coming from my computer.

Stuff laying around. Too much to list but don't want to sell either.
  • Also forgot tp mentioned that I also have a Yamaha cxa5000. I believe it's just the same as your receiver minus the amp section.
