Anton Yelchin, the actor who portrays Checkov in the rebooted Star Trek franchise was run over by his own car at his home. It appears he left the car in neutral and got out to get the mail when the car rolled forward and crushed him between the mailbox and the car.... RIP.

    Horrible news. The vehicle was apparently a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The 2014-2015 models were/are under investigation by NHTSA for rollaway problems caused by owners not using the shifter properly because it doesn't use a traditional setup and neutral can be confused with park in the electronically controlled shift mechanism:

    Fiat-Chrysler changed the design for the 2016 model year back to a traditional shifter because of reports of owners having problems with their cars and SUVs rolling down hills when they thought they put the vehicle in park. No idea which model year he had, but I think there was a voluntary recall on Chrysler products that used that type of shifter.
