Kitchen upgrades!!!

Spent all my spare time in the last 2 months doing a kitchen remodel.... When I bought the house it had all contactor special stuff, and although was functional did not do anything for me...Friend of mine and I did the labor for tile and hanging cabs and lighting.. Had a granite company do the surfaces. Got new appliances except for dishwasher which was new but I reskinned with stainless door and control panel. Only thing left is to seal the backsplash.

A lot of work, saved a lot of $$$ tho.

    Congrats on a job well done. Looks like a great kitchen to cook in, I'm the main cook in our house and you have IMO the perfect layout.

    Hey! I resemble that remark!

    :-P I don't like our black appliances (and the job of trying to keep them kind of clean falls to me; no coincidence that I don't like 'em, eh?) :-P

    Actually, I don't like cleaning the white cabinets, either, but I am a little more philosophical about a certain patina of crud on those...

    Back on topic -- I have a question about the island. I can't tell for sure even from the full-sized photos (must be my presbyopia)... what is the facing material on the island? Is it granite or something else? It looks shiny (or is it an optical illusion)?

    Optical illusion... it is sliced stone pebbles.... they are semi shiny and will get a matte sealer on them...

    We had a stainless steel fridge at our MA house... I had good luck with a stainless steel cleaner spray I bought at the good ol' Home Despot. I forget what the brand was, but it cleaned well, left no streaks and produced a smooth satiny (to the touch) finish. It was good stuff -- that helps a lot, doesn't it? :-P

    I find it pretty hard to get the black clean and streak/smear free (FWIW).

    I use car sealer on mine, looks great and super easy to wipe down.
