So im a bit confused.
My brother has found a pair of SDA CRS+ speakers. They sound great...but should they???
On closer inspection i found they have RDO198 tweeters in them but the Xovers are dead stock.
Ive always read that this will not work and don't do it under any circumstances. But these sound great to me. As good as mine which are also stock but have the SL2000's.
Whats going on here?
I advised him to not use them any more till i get back to him.
Cheers

Did someone change one of the fast on connections? They would of had to to use the 198 as the connectors are two different sizes. If both are the same size they are 194's

The 198s will function, however the required contour circuit is needed for it to sound as intended. If the SL2000s sound good to you, you're one a very few.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Cheers for the responses.
One of the leads was soldered directly so that explains the different size connector.
I'm sure mine will sound better once converted but I suppose I am a bit lucky. I have had other Polks with the SL2000 and found them harsh at times but not so much with the SDA CRS+ for what ever reason.
Back on topic will it be hurting the RDO198 to be used without the Xover modified? -
It won't hurt the tweeter.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Is there a good thread, possibly with pic/s or schematic showing what needs to be done to CRS crossover when using RDO -198?Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.

CRS I believe is no go. But CRS+ will be the same as sda2b look there. I also believe its called CRS+ 4.1 or something like that. There are many here so get your search on.

Thanks Pitt, I found and bookmarked the thread by F1nut.
And excuse the neophyte here, but yes I have CRS+ crossovers. I'm now looking at what to do for upgrade of the Interconnect terminals.Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.
