Downsizing (slowly) continues...

I bought these locally from the original owner in June 2015 and have thoroughly enjoyed them. It's killing me to do it, but I am selling these since I won't have space for two rigs in the beach house. It was either the Ushers or the SRS 1.2's.

The pictures don't really show it, but these speakers are in excellent condition; a little dust on the tops of the grilles. I could have done a better job of polishing these too - there's some fingerprint smudges (not scratches) on a couple corners.

These speakers are wonderful. With Belles 20a pre, Pass Labs Aleph 30 amp, and MIT Shotgun 3 cables, they have given me one of the most enjoyable systems I have owned. Outstanding dynamics, resolution, depth, imaging, and tone - a natural, live sound at a very reasonable price. This is/was a secondary rig that was used to demo vinyl rips for an hour or so 2 or 3 times per week. They were never pushed hard and were always adequately powered (besides the Pass, I used a McCormack DNA-1 Deluxe and Parasound HCA-2200).

    I am interested. Would these sound good in a very small room? I have the ability to treat the room like a recording studio. My wife is moving her office upstairs, so I have a spare room but it is very small. Thoughts?

    I would think so. These are in a small living room, maybe 10' deep, overcrowded with furniture. They do sound better sitting out from the front wall a bit since they are rear ported.

    I'm a student living in an apartment in the city. I take public transportation almost everywhere. I do not own an automobile. They are gorgeous speakers and I bet they will be a fine addition to someone's set up out there. The price is off the charts amazing. If I had the ability to do so, I would find a way.

    I used to ship big, vintage, Polk audio speakers.

    A couple of wardrobe boxes from Uhaul, hard foam insulation from Home Depot cut to frame the speakers in the boxes. UPS or FedEx or even a freight company.

    I will admit I've no idea to the cost, but maybe see about what a courier service would cost to have them picked up, packed and hauled from his house to somewhere you could get to them at.

    Maybe even talk to one of the other local Chicago polkies to see if they could be dropped there and then figure out how to get em to where you are.

    On another site or maybe even this one, someone used U-Ship (I think thats their name) to have some fairly large fragile SDA type speakers shipped cross country and they arrived no worse for wear. IIRC each "shipper" is a private contractor that carries insurance and whatnot so they are VERY careful not to damage things...
