Most of you guys know that I never bought into the downstream noise on some devices such as an equalizer or in my case a speaker selector. At 1st I had this little Niles SP-6 which had real cheezy spring tabs that if lucky you could get a 14gu cable in there and was really not for me. Putting size aside I heard no difference and tried to hear this downstream annoyance. I bought multiple speakers to be used not to be stashed in a closet to be sold near death and get no use out of them. Most also know my financial sitiyation and go for the buy of the century in whatever I was looking for. I upgraded my speaker selector w/ an Adcom GSP-6 w/ protection circuit. This is easily twice the size of the Niles and could take up to a twelve w/ 10gu pushing it and has locking twist sockets. It is also vented which never even got warm. So today for giggles I took the selector totally out of the system, it's still up there but not a wire to it. All speakers are now going directly through the Adcom as most here would like to see/and hear it. I'll give each spkr. 2 or so weeks worth of testing which should be plenty of time for me to make up my mind. 1st up of course are the 2Bs and then it's a pick-um.-
I do have a request, plugging into the Adcom my bananas seemed loose for the 5 ways and was wondering if you guys can recommend a double set screw stubby banana plug. I would need a set of 12. I have both single and double and feel the double set screw is a more reliable fit. I don't want to solder or crimp anything so those are out.

Check these out. I have them. They have worked perfectly and they are reasonably priced. They don't have any set screws. You can insert the wires from the end or from the side. They tighten down really tight on the wires using the knurled end that the wire goes through. I've never had to re tighten them over the three years I have used them.

Man from Tenn, I have used those and thought they were not a neat way of doing it.While true they never loosened and can't be seen anywhere I just did not like them. I did notice thatyou also are an Adcom driver. Dave on the other hand I think you've struck gold literally for me. They have everything I'm looking for.Very short shafts, gold plated, color banded as most are and double set screws. Winner winner chicken dinner I think these be them. Thanks to both for the suggestions2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

Or these. Which spring design does a person prefer?

Skip, I'm giving this a VERY serious listen. One very good reason I did not even attempt this before was that black lacquer nightmare rack of mine. I had very little access if any to change out even easy bananas. Now w/ the open Sanus, life is much easier and also the open
of the design helps w/ the 2Bs. While not perfect my room logistics just won't allow that 3' side clearance. Now I did a quick change and no problems. The bananas now are way to loose and need those stubby ones Dave recommended and will certainly report back to you guys. I know enough now to actually hear a difference.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

I like a similar style for their wire connection, but I don't care for that style banana plug. The spring portion can rotate. In theory when it is installed the spring part is pressed into the ends, but I have found they do not always make a solid connection. I prefer a more positive attachment.Or these. I feel these provide a more positive connection. Some argue they are too stiff, and don't have enough spring in them to always make a good connection. IMO there is something wrong with that plug if that is the case. Generally I have found these to have a better connection.
In the end, IMO spade plugs are way to go. I like spades that are not too fat or round in diameter. There are may styles of banana plugs or pins that you can screw on to the spades when needed.
