A lot of you are mistaking what the Court was ruling on here. This had NOTHING to do with Brady's guilt or innocence. The first Court/Judge screwed this whole thing up by overturning the NFL's penalty. He took into account way too much testimony that was actually outside of the scope of what was actually appeallable in a CBA case. The District Appeals Court got it correct and reinstated the NFL's punishment. The only thing at issue in this case was whether or not the NFL followed the CBA. They did. Call it an abuse of power or whatever, but the players were idiots for giving Goodell this power. They now have to live with it till the next CBA is negotiated.
For the record, I despise Goodell. -
The penalties need to get stiffer. Guys like Brady play the system too much.
I like what MLB is doing this year. If you get busted for PEDs, 1st offense is an 80 game suspension and automatically suspended from post-season play if your team makes it to the play-offs. A couple players just got suspended this week but overall the numbers have gone way down.
That's the only way you are ever going to curb the cheating.
In the case of the Patriots, they been caught cheating more than once now and should be under the microscope.
"Deflategate" wasn't seen as that big of a deal because the Patriots beat the Colts 45 to 7 in the AFC Championship game. That just went to show the Patriots really didn't need to cheat and would have won anyway so people weren't that upset, but some seem to forget what was really at stake.
Imagine if Deflategate would have happened in the Super Bowl and the Patriots would have won by a last-minute score or in overtime? It could have caused irreparable damage to the game. It would have been as damaging as the the "Black Sox" scandal in the 1919 World Series that took MLB decades to recover from.
That is why Roger Goodell had to suspend Brady and was right to do so. Too much is at stake. Since 2007 he has tried to clean-up the NFL which was going down the tubes with scandal after scandal. Players acting like gang-bangers and thugs. PEDs gone wild. I think he's done a decent job but needs to come down even harder on some things. These NFL players need to realize that it is an honor and a privilege to make millions of dollars playing in the NFL instead of an entitlement and if they think they can violate the rules and the integrity of the game they should be gone and the game will be better-off without them. -

It was opening the door for every player to do the same. When Brady signed his NFL contract he agreed to obey the rulings of the commissioner and the collective bargaining process for better or worse.
A lot of other players have been suspended without being criminally-charged or enough evidence to convict them in a court of law. Everyone know Brady was aware of the underinflated footballs though. He's a pro. He got caught, now take the suspension and put it behind.
The Patriots also lose their first round draft pick this year from this incident.
Obviously you never played football. If you were to underinflate the ball to the lower end of the allowed tolerance (or in this case below the limit) just about anyone who has ever handled a football would be able to tell it was on the low side if they picked the ball up. I know I would be able to tell and therefore a pro like Tom Brady who handles one for a living definitely could tell. For him to say otherwise is ridiculous. Sort of like these pro ball players saying they don't know how the performance-enhancing drugs got into their systems when they fail the drug tests.... and they all deny cheating! Every one of them.
A defensive player for the other team (I think it was a lineman) who doesn't normally handle the ball picked the Patriot game ball up after a play and noticed it was underinflated and showed it to the referees. Every offensive player who touched the balls on the Patriots knew they were intentionally on the low side of the tolerance if not below the limit.
It has nothing to do with whether someone likes Tom Brady and the Patriots or not. I actually like Brady as a quarterback and said so earlier in this thread. He got caught cheating though and needs to live up to it, take the punishment, and move on. He probably did the best strategic move by appealing it last year. They made it all the way to the playoffs. This year they lose their 1st round draft pick and their chances aren't as good so it probably was a smart move to fight the suspension and delay it by a year.
The NFL should actually tack-on an additional week or two though to discourage this type of legal-wrangling in the future for cases like this. The players have their union and the arbitrators to make sure any wrongly-accused get off. That process didn't work out in Brady's favor which is why he decided to take the unprecedented move of taking it to court. Now the court has sided against him too. There should be some additional penalty for taking it that far.
A. Brady was responsible for the under-inflated balls.
B. Brady knew the balls were under inflated for sure.
Still waiting for the proof, or evidence, on this case or poorly thought out post to come out, especially on point A. above. So far you have posted nothing but conjecture and opinions of what you thought happened, which is lame.

Not to defend anyone, but....how can proof be presented when Brady destroyed it ? That's the crux of the matter, he destroyed evidence. Hardly an innocent person's behavior wouldn't most agree ?
Maybe we can call it behavior unbecoming of an employee, of which any employer would be in their right to set forth punishment. The Pats are beholden to the NFL, their rules and regulations and punishments no matter how unfair they may be viewed as. That's the agreement you sign when wanting to be a franchise in the NFL....or pretty much a franchise in any sport.HT SYSTEM-

Your macho chest pounding to make your point, or opinion, aside....you still haven't described a scenario beyond a reasonable doubt that:
A. Brady was responsible for the under-inflated balls.
B. Brady knew the balls were under inflated for sure.

Wow you're quite the Patriots loyalist aren't you now?
I can tell by your highly-emotional response resorting to personal attacks.
That's the way it always is when faced with a reality you don't want to believe isn't it?
The bottom line is that you are just going to have to learn to accept the fact that Tom Brady is a cheater, Bill Belichick has also been caught cheating, and the Patriots are going to be made to pay a penalty for dishonoring the game. You may prefer that the NFL just turn a blind eye to all the cheating but the majority of fans would prefer to retain as much integrity as possible.
I think if you really think about the issues you'll agree that the game is better without the corruption.
Tom Brady knew the balls were underflated dude and everyone knows it. No DNA evidence needed. The sky is blue and the Pope is Catholic. Face reality. -
