Refreshing Black Veneer on a CS1000p

I've used this method on a few speakers before with good results. This guy had a few little dings and scratches in it, making it look a little older than it performed. Here's how I went about touching up the veneer of my black CS1000p.
First cleaning it with a light solution of Windex and water to get little bits of dirt/smudges off it, then allowing it to dry thoroughly so the next steps will be more effective.
Then, using a Minwax Wood Finish Stain Marker in Ebony I stain underlying wood a nice black, using a healthy amount on the bigger chip.
Then to blacken up the rest of the veneer and cover up other tiny tiny spots I stripe up the sides, then rub with a paper towel to distribute the stain. You can see the before/after in the half-done top.
I rub it out in 3-4 steps until the towel is near clean, then set it aside to dry for a couple days.
End result, a nicely refreshed blackness and hidden scratches.

Yes, it is a heavy beast indeed. I've done this to a dozen or so RTx Series speakers so far, works great every time, always makes them look so pretty and new.
Sounds awesome too. Great speaker for running Mono...In fact I bet two of them stood on end would make pretty great left and right channels!Up

That looks great! I'm going to try it on one of my SRT satellites tonight.
