New Polk owner of pair of 5JRs & 11t FREE from CL needs help

OK, this is my first set of Polks so I need a bit of help. As far as the monitor 11ts, the passive radiators look like there are no leaks, the 2 midranges work fine and the SL2000 is definitely harsh sounding so I'll probably mod that with the TL & crossover. The cabs are in so-so condition and I will use Howard's RAF to help with that. Grills cloth a bit loose and some picks, only one of the 2 has the Polk label.
The 5Jr cabs are in similar condition, though one needs a bit of work on the corners. Both have loose grill cloth and are missing the Polk label. One of the pair sounds nice (again, the SL2000 needs to go) and no apparent leaks for the passive radiator. The other has a frozen MW6502 driver.
So here are the questions:
- The 5Jr label has 5JR on it (SN30591) and the bad driver has date of July 22 1987. The driver is labeled as 5JR+. So what version of 5JR do I have?
- As far as replacing the 6502, where is the best place to get an original replacement?
- I probably will get the Polk emblems as well, it this just and ebay item?
In advance, thanks!

It sounds like he wants an original driver. Polk CS will not have original drivers. They do sell replacement drivers though. It depends how you read his question.- SDA 2B (1989, Oak Tops, 194s, Spikes)

AFAIK the MW's for the 5jr and 5jr+ with the SL2000 tweeter were the same, the 6502. I think one of my 5Jr's has both the 5jr box checked and a 5jr+ stamp. The 6502 was also used in the 4A if you plan on searching ebay. I am not sure about the Series 2. I think that uses an equivalent MW and is available from Polk CS.

With the TL mod comes the RDO198 which like you mentioned will require cross over changes and might as well upgrade them. They do make a silk dome RDO194 upgrade that is a drop in replacement for the SL2000 tweeter. I believe the 198 is slightly larger so modifications to the cabinet might be needed.
If you can't do the cross over yourself Id advise you to check out westmassguy or dhs speaker repair.Just a dude doing dude-ly things

Make a plan before ordering tweeters. The RD0-198 (as Cody said) requires changes to the crossover, namely one of the inductors has a different rating between the two models.
If you decide to leave as 11T's, the RD0-194 is for you. The 198 and 194 both have identical mounting needs, so no cabinet modification needed for either choice. (The Peerless and SL1000 tweeters are the ones with different form factor).
Have fun and good luck. I modded a pair of RTA11TL some years back; they're still kicking it at my brother's house.Jay

The 5jr's only require a single capacitor change to use the 198 vs the 194, so it is a very simple upgrade. The 198 requires 13.5µF and the 194 requires 12µF. The schematics for the speakers can be found as one of the "Announcements" at the top of Vintage Speaker section.
Here is the link:

As mentioned Westmassguy is the guy to go to if you don't feel up to the task of upgrading the crossovers.

Thanks to all responses. I have no problem doing the crossover mod and I've even looked at fixing the 6502. Doesn't look too bad, save a few bucks but need to decide if it is worth my time.
Thanks again... -
Congrats on a heck of a score!
Does the 11t have veneer on it or is it vinyl? RAF doesn't really work on vinyl ....
For the 6502, if you want to do an even trade, your frozen 6502 for a re-set and glued 6502, let me know. I have a re-setting jig and I'm trying to get a trade-in program going to help everyone out who has shifted magnets.my 3.1TLs

That does sound like a good idea, I messaged you about the even trade. -

I think I have a frozen 6502 collecting dust. If you are interested, I could donate it to the cause.

No modifications are needed to the cabinet same size as the SL2000 BUT they do have two different size quick connects to discourage the use in speaker with SL2000. You will need to cut and crimp a new connector no biggie. There are going to need to be modifications to the XO for sure to be able to use the RDO198. FWIW the RDO 194 is leaps better than the SL2000 and is drop in replacement.
