While using the tuner today I heard a hiss or something from the left speaker and the dimensional driver was making a soft crackling sound. Speaker looks ok but haven't put a meter on it. Are the 6511's still avail from Polk?

I do believe so. Worth a call.... Not sure=Have you tried cleaning the SDA cord ends ? Is it doing it on other sources ?..

Yes I got a 6511 from then about a year ago,
but you need to cut a little away from the mounting holes. don't just try to insert the screws with cutting it safely around the screw hole as it will distort the surrounds.2 ch- Polk CRS+ * Vincent SA-31MK Preamp * Vincent Sp-331 Amp * Marantz SA8005 SACD * Project Xperience Classic TT * Sumiko Blue Point #2 MC cartridge

These actually are the replacement 6511's I bought in Jan 2014, right side is good but the left was making the noise.
After further inspection the magnet has shifted, I ordered another and will definitely hit all of them with some JB.

That stinks but happens. I just got a pair of 5a's in & both woofers are froze up tight....These are the 6511's i got with the crs+ tl package i got awhile back. As soon as i got them out of box i LocTite'd them.

What type of Loctite did you use? Is there a difference between the Loctite and JB for this application?

Loctite power grab i believe most who do not use JB weld use the powergrab -
2-3.00 at WalMart. 1 tube will be enought for 1c's & then some. Goes on white & dries clear. I apply inside
bead first & use my finger to smooth it out. Any excess i apply it to the outside bead around the magnet. I have paper lowel ready to wipe fingers-then clean the mess i make on magnet. Seems to work good for me.. -

When you say "inside", I assume the basket against the silver part of the magnet assembly? I understand we don't take apart the magnet when they're is no problem...just want to be certain.

Apply a bead of Loctite where the front plate meets the magnet, and where the back plate meets the magnet.Home Theater/2 Channel:
