Loud Crackling from Sub

I just started hearing a loud crackling from my PSW350 sub when higher volume LFE effects are playing. I took the bezel off and noticed the cone really traveling a lot during the pops. Performs normally during normal volume scenes. Concerned about using it again. Never heard this before. Any advice/ideas? Tks.

    you are probably hearing the voice coil former slamming into the backplate. All you can do is turn the volume down, find a better position for the sub or get another sub.

    You may also have your sub calibrated too "hot". Have you calibrated your sub using a decibel meter and one of the calibration DVDs? Is the gain on the sub amp plate past the 12 o'clock position?

    I don't really remember my PSW350 doing that but it was calibrated at about 11:00 position in my living room which is 3,000 cubic feet.
