    Good question. The inlet for the generator is already outside, but occasionally I want to run it in the garage with the door open to shield it. I could add a 240v outlet and air connector on the other side of the garage wall, but wouldn't it be easier to just add a pass-though since the "location" of the outlet wouldn't really change?

    So the outlet is already outside? What kind of exterior is your house?

    The generator inlet is outside the garage wall and the 240v outlet is inside the garage. The house has vertical 1955 original wood siding over shiplap.

    Sounds like it would be easier to just cut a hole for the cat door then. I just think (personally) that it would look nicer to have an outlet box and air connection than a cat door; but you're right, it would be a little more in-depth.

    I don't disagree with you that it wouldn't look at good, but it would provide flexibility with many components.

    Maybe for a more professional look, a small locking access panel? Although it would need to be weather proof.

    some are somewhat. I've seen some with magnets on the sides to hold the door shut so not to be blown open by wind
