AV receiver recommendations?

After many, many years of service, my old Technics receiver has finally died, so time to go shopping for a new one . I was thinking of getting a Yamaha RX-A840 or 850, but thought I'd check to see what you guys would recommend. I'm looking for something good but not overly fancy , up to about $900. This would be for a living room HT setup, about 80% movies, 20% music. My speakers are Polk RTi38 fronts, CSi30 center, Monitor 30 surrounds, PSW110 sub (I'm saving my pennies for a SVS...). Any advice?

If you're set on Yammy I'd step it up to the Adventage series. Personally I'd go with a Pioneer SC model.

The RX-A840/850 is an Adventage model. I'm not really set on it, just read good things about it and it has pretty much everything I need in a receiver. Haven't looked at the pioneers too closely yet, but I'll check them out

My bad, didn't realize that. Can't really go wrong with either brand IMO...

For $900 you can get a top of the line $2,200 Yamaha. Sabre DAC's, support for FLAC from USB stick/drive, 150 watts x 2 @ 8 ohm, 40 pounds, 4k upscaling, symmetrical power amp layout... awesome AVR.
Aventage not Adventage.

How good is Accessories4less these days? I know people used to love them, but lately I've been reading a lot of complaints about them on various forums - poor customer service, warranty problems, etc... I'm a bit weary of buying refurbished electronics, and that doesn't help...

Aventage not Adventage.
My spell checker is adamant that it's "advantage". We compromised with "adventage" -

IF you keep your eyes open, I've seen the Pioneer SC-87 pop up in the $900 range.
It has been a great receiver for me. -
If your set on the Aventage series of Yamaha. I say go for it. I just recently picked up a Cxa5000 to replace a Denon 3808 and I love it. I'm not saying that I didnt like the Denon but the Yamaha paired with my Adcom was such a game changer. From my understanding the only difference between the 3040 and 5000 is that the 3040 has an amp section where as the 5000 is just a preamp.Epson 3020 projector. Da Lite screen. Oppo 103. Yamaha CXA5000. B&K 7250ii. HSU VTF2. Def Tech Supercube 4000. Polk Rtia9 CsiA6 FxiA6. Monster hts 2600. Home theater.
Bedroom consist of NHT model 2 powered by Parasound hca1200ii coming from my computer.
Stuff laying around. Too much to list but don't want to sell either. -

2 out of the three AVRs that I purchased from them failed in one aspect or another.
They are warrantied for one year from the date of the purchase to be repaired at an authorized repair center.
You can drive there or ship it there; in my experience, shipping was less expensive. If they can't fix it, the manufacturer will send you another refurbished unit.
The 1st receiver that I had repaired had issues a few months after I got it back; it is now out of warranty. The second receiver I had issues with couldn't be repaired so the manufacturer sent me a replacement.Audio: Polk S15 * Polk S35 * Polk S10 * SVS SB-1000 Pro
