I havent heard it but in that price range you should also consider the SVS PB2+ and the Acoustic Visions Denali with the bad **** Tumult.

i've listened to earthquake subs....i think it was the one before that one in the line though. i thought is sucked, horribly....it was loud but forget about deep. this bass could not be felt at all and after a while it just got plain annoying. i was listening to the gun shoot out in the first matrix movie. and usually you can feel those bullets and the bass fills the whole room. this was not the case with the earthquake, i was very disappointed with it. the stereo guy there decided i would only be happy with a 15" woofer because i didnt like the earthquake. am i a bass head? maybe, but i wouldnt call anything from that woofer bass.

Airplay,Whoa!Really it sounded like ****?I thought they were supposed to be better than the Sunfire line of subs.I just sold my Sunfire Signature and wanted something bigger, and more powerful. I thought this was it!Old School stuff

It's doubtful that the Earthquake would be much competition for the similarly priced Ultra.

i would say it is becues 1 Tumult has the output of 2 tempests and 1 tempest is about equivilent to 1 svs plus. the thing that is good about the Tumult is you get alot out of a small package but you need alot of power.

The Denali has a 1kW class D amp. I have a Tempest in a room over 3000 cubic feet and it is overkill with 250W.Graham -
Ok the Denali's got my attention. Is there a dealer that sells these below MSRP from the manufacture???I wonder if someone has a demo that they want to sell?:)Old School stuff

Talk to Kyle Richardson at Acoustic Visions, he makes them and only he sells them. I dont think you will find any demos but it cant hurt to try. Of course you could try building it yourself and he will give you advice along the way.
Here's a dude who built his own Denali, check out the pics:

Per Craigsub's review over at HT-SPOT, the Denali and the PB2+ are a virtual dead-heat in THD-limited output at all frequencies from 16 Hz on up. Really speaks highly of both designs and drivers. The Tumult is one serious woofer and a deal for $500."What we do in life echoes in eternity"

yes, i hated the earthquake....i would prefer no sub then to have that one. the only sunfire i heard had problems with the driver, something was broken but it was "fixed" so it could still be used....it wasnt at its peak performance though. i prefered the broken sunfire to the earthquake. i think your money will be much much better spent elsewhere. i would quickly dismiss any thoughts of buying an earthquake sub. their name implies big sound and lots of boom when all you get is loud 40 hz bass and a quick drop off.
this is my expirence with earthquake subs, im not tryin to degrade neone. kinda sad that i have to write this at the end of a post but oh well i dont need to become the next sid lol
