    I just experienced something with my 2.3TLs. I just rebuilt the x-overs and have been moving them around to find their best location. In my room when they are centered on the 18.5 foot wall on 8 to 9 ft centers they are shrill and boomy at the same time and the sda affect is almost gone. When I shift them slightly to the right and spread them to 10 ft centers they are smooth, the bass tightens up and the sda affect is amazing. In both positions they are the same distance off the back wall at 8".
    Same music same volume completely different results.
    In my case location makes all the difference.

    Location is "most" of the difference with my 2A's as well. After rearranging things recently I noticed that the bass was pretty pronounced, not boomy, but pretty heavy. After remeasuring the distances from the wall I noticed that one of them was 1/2 inch different from the other one. Moved the speaker that crazy 1/2 inch farther away from the wall. Just that little adjustment made all the difference...

    Unfortunately, placement is locked in as we don't have much room along the front stage wall.

    Not yet. That comes after the refinishing I plan on doing this spring.
