Ok. I admit. Im a mess

Ok i really am a mess. I have no idea what im doing here & really need help from folks who know better. I need a direction to be led.... My HT system vintage is this.
.
SDA1c fronts
Cs1000p center
yamaha rxv2600
Seems ok on power so far. Im gonna move gear around & add power amp to front speakers @ 220wpc to the SDA's
The cp1000p should i add a amplifier. I keep looking for a 3 channel or 5 channel amplifier & not sure what to do. Another concern i have is when i upgrade the SDA's the OHM's change & the Denon amp i like probably wont do 4ohm loads & if i recall the center is 8 ohm. Im a mess & not sure what to do

Its time to look for a more serious amp if you have concerns. Peace of mind is sometimes only achieved when you spend a little more to get stability under load that the Denon may have issues with. Lots of choices, Rotel, Parasound, Acurus all carry multi channel amps that can do the job.

Randy, once the 1Cs are off a separate amp, the Yamaha should have no problem powering the center (which has a 100 watt amp built in for sub-bass signals), and two or four additional surround/rear speakers.

I was in your shoes for a while with my HT setup. Running a Pioneer VSX-1123 for all channels. Threw a 2 channel amp in for the fronts and it really opened up. Unfortunately that Pio only had preouts for the fronts... Now I've gone to a pre/pro with a 5 channel amp driving everything. There's no going back from that point, but I can say that getting the mains off the AVR amps really did help, in my case, for driving the center and surrounds.

I think your results would be similar, and that's likely the least expensive way to proceed depending on the amp selection obviously.

I wish I would have gone all in with the pre/pro and 5 channel amp to start with since it would have ultimately been less expensive, but the funds didn't allow this initially.

What type of budget are you trying to keep here?

Your not a mess, but you do need to feed those SDA's more power. Add a 2 channel amp, the center is self powered.

Down the road though, I might look to swap out that Yammie receiver, not doing you any favors SQ wise imho.

That yammie is a pretty stout receiver, and sounds pretty darn good in "pure direct" mode for two channel. Pretty stout as well: http://www.audioholics.com/av-receiver-reviews/yamaha-rx-v2600/yamaha-rx-v2600-benchmark-performance-tests

Now of course, nice separates would be an improvement, but that yammie waslks oer anything you can get currently at best buy...

I would leave the center alone for now and power the mains separately. But I will say that I have powered the non-powered part of the cs1000 (the sc400i) with a little audiosource amp200 (80 wpc) and it was a BIG improvement...

I will try the amplifier on the SDA's. I will try the Denon poa2200 for HT. I didnt want to use the Adcom on the 1c's. CRS's will eventually be on that. Im stockpiling money & gear sales for a amplifier that might do everything. (I hate selling my old gear i like-but dont need). Budget under 2 grand in due time. If i got to change everything out. I will. Thanks for feedback & i will report back on how the Denon does with the receiver hooked to it

Are 1Cs a good choice for HT? How well will YPAO work with dimensional drivers? Wouldn't it be a better idea to offload the low end to a good sub and find some fronts that are easier to drive without dimensional drivers?

Same process as the 2 channel amp, whats not to get ? Besides, if it sounds good now, why mess with it ? Know the old saying... if it ain't broke don't fix it ?

Makes not the faintest difference IF (big IF) the amplifier is rated for the 6- or 4-ohm nominal load.

Speaker impedance varies with frequency. Two stereo channels aren't producing the same frequencies most of the time. Your speakers are already producing a different load to the amplifier based on the signal volume and signal frequency.

Adding a third, un-matched speaker won't do anything except make for a bit more load on the single power supply in most amps, and other amps would have a separate power supply for each channel.

Getting the appropriate volume level with the mis-matched speakers is a job for your preamp/processor. About all that leaves you with is the voicing difference between the two similar speakers, and the one different one.

Should the interconnect cable be unplugged when setting up SDAs with YPAO?

YPAO is Yamaha's automatic speaker calibration system that is included with some of it's AVRs. It does use a microphone. Seems to me like YPAO and similar calibration systems would really be confused by the dimensional driver in one speaker playing at low volume while it is testing the other speaker. I was just wondering if it would be better to unplug the interconnect cable to avoid any problems when using automatic calibration. Maybe a manual setup would be better with SDAs.

Looks like you've gotten excellent feedback. Two channel power amp is what I would use first. I've done that even on my non-SDA HT. It makes a "HUGE" difference he said, gesticulating like a billionaire! lol

The Yammie should be able to handle everything else. Ohms will be irrelevant once the power amp is in place!

That wasnt my issue. It was using a 3 channel amplifier for the fronts & center at the same time-with the 3 channel amplifier that had me confused. Ive used 2 channel amp on HT with great results..... I had to ditch my Paradigms because i have too much stuff & i didnt want to rid of SDA's or Monitors ive had & enjoy. Down the road i can do new HT once i have room for more & real mancave back
