Perhaps a matching Vincent Phono Pre will do the trick, that Decaware is to rich for my blood. My decision is keeping me up at night, got to come to a decision right fast.

That Vincent looks like a nice piece. What's not to like? Good price, MM or MC, external PS. Pull the trigger.

Kind of an odd tube 6n16, not sure what you could actually use when rolling tubes. I am always a little suspect of odd tube designations. Haven't done a lot of research on that tube. But my guess is you will be limited to any other choices w/o modification.

Neither a true Tube Pre Nor a good pure SS Pre. Probably the best of both world. But probably a bust as well. But but there is 7 glowing review on this atrocity.

Roll the dice and tell me if you like it. I heard Vincent can sound good but used to be rigged with reliability problems.

I would get the next model up.
This one sounds fine but the noise floor was too high for me.
I went SS pre and I'm holding myself back from getting
a really good tube phono pre.
Oh, and no tube rolling for you if you buy it.

Hey Steve, Sorry I been working a lot of OT, just got home from working 8 more

I had that preamp and sold it to RED only because I upgrade to the SA-31 MKII, it is a hybrid and the tube cant be change out instantly as It is soldier in, I have not open my MKII to see if its the same way or not.

But you can change the tubes on most of the other Vincent gear! I really like the Vincent stuff and have the maytching Amplifier and phono amp the PHO-8

The SA-31 Preamp was my first 2 channel preamp and I bought it because the price was right...just no remote

Hasn't Musical Fidelity used a similar, soldered versus socketed, small signal tube successfully in their integrated gear for years?

I hear that is why they choose the 6N16, so it would last for long time.

the regular SA-31 has a set of tubes in the output stage..the MKII version has 2 sets of tubes with 1 set in the input stage and 1 in the output stage and a remote.

+1 on the PHO-8 phono pre.

D turned me on to that little 2-piece unit when I was first looking for a phono pre, and I've not been disappointed. I'm using MM, so not sure how it works with MC. I find it to be a pretty clean, sweet and smooth little no-frills phono pre. Very nice build quality, imho, esp. for the cost; weighty, and looks nice in a phono rig. No regrets on that acquisition.

+2 on the Pho-8, and for that matter, the tube Pho-700. Have 'em both and enjoy them both!

Thanks for the advice everyone, I will probably end up getting this integrated instead going to look around a bit more but find myself wanting this now along with the Vincent Pho-8. I could also see myself with the SA-31MK with Vincents tube phono stage the Pho-700

I think your going to love that Integrated amplifier if you do buy it as @Wardsweb has the SV237 and said he really likes it. I know Skip on some of the others was at a get together at his house and have heard that Amp! plus it is pure class A for the 1st 10 watts plus a nice heavy metal remote. (not plastic)

I have the SA-31MK preamp + SP-331 Amplifier which would cost $3000 so its a pretty sweet deal!
