When down it made noise when it was up it was worse mine had to be off.
No offense but the finickiness of my two rigs back in the day when it was the norm, is the very reason CD's were so easy to gravitate towards. I can't reinvest what I basically gave away.

I am top up on MH mmf5.1 and the VPI doesn't have a top, but I always preferred top down on the Dual 1229 and the Yamaha YP-D6. Funny how that works - just the way they sounded best to me.VA HT HK AVR20II, Sony S9000ES CD/DVD/SACD, Polk Audio RC80i / Polk Audio CSi3, 60" Panasonic Plasma, Nordost / Signal Cable A2 / Wireworld / Pangea / Magic Power

Down/OnI could honestly never detect a difference
Down/on -
Up/OffMine is up.
Unless my kids are home, then it's down.
Curious fingers scare me too much.
I typically avoid vinyl when the kids are home... -
Down/OnI'm going down, down, down...
-
Up/OffI was always a "downer" but when I get back into what I see now referred to as "Vine Yule" I read several articles suggesting the sound is more open with it up. So when listening up, when not, down.2 Channel "Polk" Room:

Off for sure, too many sound pressure waves in the room to vibrate it.Vinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want...
