Advents up and working

After getting the foams and adhesive I got to work. If you remember these were gifted to me by my maintenance guy who I threw $5 bucks for the surprise. The re foaming is a job that needs patience and I'm glad I only had 2 to do. My very old ADC 303ax were not working so out they went. Now I'm not set on the placement of the speakers and might change things up again. The closets thing I have to compare them to are my EPI 100V. Similar but the Advents sound a bit stronger and a lot less brighter. A nod goes to the Prodigy, the speakers that is not the re foamer... b5mmd1ot5v69.jpg

  • yes Dave but in the good way. I did get rid of a set to have these. I have no more room. So like Tony and some of the guys say, save up and get a set that would over take them all. My choice at this hour Vandersteen 3s or OHM/WALSH 2XOs used of course. Placement not all that critical w/ either choice.

    naaah.

    ;- )
  • When I started to watch those true hoarder shows like Buried Alive and the A& E show they actually scared the crap out of me and never knew that addiction even existed. We all know about smoking, drugs, alcohol, shopping, gambling and just going overboard on something we like. This disease is so over powering the people's water, electric and living conditions are so deplorable there has to be another word for it. Listen this isn't the Dr Phil show but at least w/ the speakers I get they all get used in some form of a rotation. I'm clearly not flushed w/ cash to buy things as investments so hoarding no freaking way. Just a minor player, who wished he had mad money for a pearl white '70 Olds 442 convertible or a '63 split window Vette... Sorry for the ramble.

based on the pictures I've seen, you're fine... if you're even thinking/worrying about it, you're probably fine.

Now, I, on the other hand... :-/

Hoarding is great fodder for writers; it literally builds GOOD CHARACTER(S)! I had an old professor who had so many books in his apartment (he was single) that they were stored, haphazardly, in large paper grocery bags throughout his place. One had to take care to make ones way through the library without knocking something over. He also wore the same suit to class almost everyday-perhaps he had a closet filled of many, all of which were exactly the same! An eccentric who was also brilliant.

The famous Thorstein Veblen used to let his dishes pile up in the bathtub of his NYC apartment and HOSE them down when he got to MAX capacity, of course back then many tubs were in the kitchen area? And there are MANY more where those came from! Heck, this place would be so much LESS interesting without the "few" characters who frequent it! Some of us are "boring", extremely so, but thank God there are a few who are not! If your life is "too" safe, well, it leaves too "little" for the imagination!

  • Dave, I know and what you said I can tell whether it's a serious comment or a goof and we're cool. I don't know why actually I do know why I went off like that. It might be obvious to some that quite a few of these disorders effected my family directly and hit hard. What those are, well that's for the Dr Phil show.TODAY IS LIGHTEN UP DAY AND SO IT WILL BE, BY DECREE.

It's all good Lew. One of the many problems when typing messages vs talking to someone either on the phone of face to face, is the inability to read their intent.
An unintended consequence of modern communication.
