Been using a benchmark as a preamp in my 2 channel setup for a few years now. Time to step up to a real pre-amp.

12AU7's. Thinking I should give the recommended 100 hours of burn in, before I venture into tubes for this one.
It's been on for about 2 hours. Sounded OK at first, things are really opening up. Wow!
All I have to say is the remote is just awful. Plastic cheap thing, feels like it's going to break holding it.2 channel:

I'm very pleased! My benchmark sounds phenomenal through the Cary. Sound stage is huge and deep, could Listen for hours. Better bass as well, opened these electras right up.2 channel:

You adjust to the sound, so when you add something new it's a wow factor. I know many like using dacs as pre amps or universals, but no substitute for a good pre in the mix in my opinion.
I'm still on the hunt for a Cary cinema 11a or 12 for a good price. For me it makes better sense with a combo ht/music system.

It's been left on for about 16 hours now. Will leave it on all week, and do a more serious evaluation on the weekend. After about 4 hours of play last night it is really opening up! I have to say build is fantastic, and this thing is heavy for only 2 channels of music! And it gets quite hot as well.
Only grip is this remote, for a piece of gear of this quality I really wonder what Cary was thinking. It's possibly the worst remote I have seen. Thinking of picking up a cheap harmony to run the CDP and pre. At least they feel good in your hand.
