The Fortress modded LSi9 crossover upgrades helped smooth out the mids and highs nicely and made a dramatic difference in bass response... making it very punchy and accurate. you could easily live with these in a 2 channel system without a sub tho I would recommend an AMP that can provide 200wpc at 4 ohms. I have lots of amp options and enjoyed them best paired with my Peachtree 125SE
I agree with this. I LOVE the tweeter, and they are smooth across the spectrum. And the bass is INSANE, and you don't need a sub for two channel in a small-medium sized room. But you DO need a serious amp, good stands, and space from the back wall. These are the things I do not have/can not do, and that is the only reason I am selling them. I actually think that my 150 wpc audiosource amp would be fine if I could meet the other two criteria, but I really can't unfortunately. I thought I could get away with my space and placement constraints but I can't...

Long-time lurker, just registered yesterday. I'm interested and located in Central Texas as well (Austin area to be specific).

I have a media room that I'm building out with more speakers, amps, new receiver, and a projector. I absolutely love my current Lsi9s and am looking to build the setup for dual-purpose (surround sound for movies/tv/games but still remain a fantastic spot to enjoy music). I was considering LsiFX for the rears until I saw this ad. Now, I'm thinking my current Lsi9s could be moved to surround or SACD duty, and these bad boys could take the front row. Does anybody have an idea of how well these would pair with a stock center channel - LsiC or a Lsi9. (5 Lsi9s would be amazing  )

I remember reading about the VR3 mods when I picked up my first pair of Lsi speakers in 2012. These things are great from the factory. I could only imagine with the upgrades!

@J_Roc - Thx for the inquiry, but this deal is do active members of the club polk community.

If these don't sell by Sunday Feb. 7th, I will have Ken delete the ad and I will list them on other sites for slightly more (just enough to cover what I paid plus fees - I'm not looking to profit here!).

I want to honor Mikey's wishes and extend this great deal to active polkies. Come on guys someone snag these amazing speakers and let them realize their full potential!

I'm seriously considering it, but am unsure if I have an amp decent enough. I've lost so many of my more refined ones and currently just have a Sunfire 200x7 or my Threshold CAS2.

I don't know how refined it is, but on good stands and out from the walls I bet bi-amping these bad boys with that sunfire would make them SING! 400 wpc!!!

So in my old HT rig I experimented with the 9's in 2 channel mode with my Sunfire TGA 7401... The Sunfire plays nicely with all LSi series. I consider the Sunfire to be a Hybrid as well as my Peachtree 125SE. Both were able to provide enough oomph to drive the 9's in 2 channel. I was also in a relatively large and difficult room as well.

My concern isn't so much with the LSi9s, but with my amps lol. I was hoping to have something higher end to pair with them. I could run 2 channels to each side of the LSi9 as I have the 200x7 and 200x5 to choose from. Room will be like 15x15 max.

Don"t forget that the 200wpc on the Sunfire would be 400 wpc @ 4ohms. Most Sunfires Double in wpc from 8 to 4 ohms ... Check your amp specs.

True, I forgot about that. I can send them back for modification to further double that too I believe. That would be ridiculous.

That sunfire you can bi amp the speakers with it! A lot of people use the sunfire 200x5 or the sig version to bi amp speakers. They just leave the last channel with nothing running to it. You will have a lot of current for any speaker with the sunfire. I know its a bit different but I ran a sunfire 300x2 and a sunfire sig II 625x2 on a set of carver amazing originals without any issues. That speaker needs current and an amp that can dip down to 1 ohm. The sunfire has no problem with difficult loads and the 5 channel versions are just as stout.

I should say you would cook the speakers before that amp would run out of steam in that config.

I would love to have these but I have a turntable @ the top of my list for 2016. I am sure once these are gone I will regret not buying.
2 channel: Anthem 225 Integrated amp; Parasound Ztuner; TechnicsTT SL1350; Vincent PHO-8 phono pre; Marantz CD6005 spinner; Polk SDA2BTL's; LAT International speaker cables, ZU Mission IC's and power cables all into a PS Audio Dectet Power center.

Other; M10 series II, M7C's, Hafler XL600 amp, RB-980BX, Parasound HCA-1500 amp , P5 preamp, all in storage. All vintage Polk have had crossover rebuilds and tweeter upgrades.

I've certainly posted here and there since '08 but mostly was busy with College, jobs, moving, house buying, etc. etc.

Now that I have a house and some money to actually buy decent gear, I'm feeling a need to finally get the speakers I've always wanted: LSi 9s.
