Well I didn't expect to do this. I though these would be my end game speakers, but unfortunately they don't work for me in my current space with my current equipment. These are GREAT speakers, but they need to be out from the wall (at least a foot) and have ballsy amp (I am guessing at least 200 wpc) to keep the bass under control. Since I cannot change the layout of the room they are in, and don't have the scratch for the proper amp, I am putting these back up.

$575 plus actual shipping and Paypal fees (if applicable). I paid more than that with shipping and fees, so I still paid some to get to test these bad boys out, and you are paying $25 more for not buying them the first time around ;)

These will come as I received them, in a HUGE heavy duty box, each speaker in its own inner box, with bubble wrap around the speaker. Yes Mikey packed these well...

    These suckers are beautiful. Lustworthy even... I LOVE the sound of the stock LSi's. I can't imagine how good they sound with those mods...

    close... the 9's require more amp to get the full effect. the 703's can run on just about anything. I like the 703's for jazz, classical and the modded 9's for rock, contemporary stuff. I like the bass better on the 9's...but the tweets on the 703's. The 703's get the nod for tubes and the 9's sounded great on my Peachtree 125SE(class D).

    This seems silly, but these look the exact same as when I got them. I unboxed them, set them down on the cabinet and ran em for a while. Then they went straight back into the box.

    These retailed for $1100 a pair, and the mods alone cost $480. This is a smoking deal IMHO...

    I have never heard them stock, obviously Mikey has. But the link above gives comparison and is very positive about the upgrade. There are also reviews in VR3s website.

    In my opinion the LSi9's were the star of the LSi line. Best bang for the buck and overall a very nice speaker. I would not consider it a bookshelf speaker as it needs to go on stands. The LSi15 was also a favorite of many. I found the 15 to be a bit picky as far as placement was concerned and the 9 somewhat less picky. To me the side firing woofers seemed to need being symmetry with regard to placement between back wall and side wall which can be difficult in many homes with open floor plans.

    The Fortress modded LSi9 crossover upgrades helped smooth out the mids and highs nicely and made a dramatic difference in bass response... making it very punchy and accurate. you could easily live with these in a 2 channel system without a sub tho I would recommend an AMP that can provide 200wpc at 4 ohms. I have lots of amp options and enjoyed them best paired with my Peachtree 125SE
