Try TIDAL Premium for FREE for 60 Days!

Hey all, if anyone is on the fence about trying tidal streaming, use my link and get Premium for 60 days!

http://tidal.refr.cc/V957WFC

To be fair, anyone who signs up for the free trial also gets me a 30 day credit on my account. However, I have been very happy with Tidal after MOG shut down. The options are just as vast as any other service out there for what i've searched for, they recently added the Beatles entire collection, and the Hi-Fi streaming through my squeezebox and through my computer usb is fantastic.

Yep I am on my third try with tidal, and I plan to stick with it indefinitely. They have worked most of the bugs out, and are improving the apps and features. Sound quality is excellent, to the point that I have basically stopped purchasing CDs.

I had those issues in the past as well. Not any in the last several months. Things are much smoother now.

I'm going to give this a try. Now that BubbleUPnP has Tidal integration, it'll be easy to select my Chromecast Audio or my Pioneer N-50 as the renderer for easy integration into my different systems.

One hiccup. I notice the free subscription is for Premium, not Tidal Hi-fi. Ultimately I'll want Hi-fi, but if I sign up for premium, am I going to get a good idea of how reliable it is? I would be using it while on Wi-Fi, so I don't see the extra bandwidth required by Hi-fi to really be an issue.

Alright, I'm signed up & streaming Tidal via BubbleUPnp to the Pioneer N-50 in my main rig. The 320kbps AAC doesn't sound too bad. But it's late & I don't think the rest of the family would dig AC/DC at more realistic volumes. :D

The hifi sounds really good. Can't really tell the difference between my flac cd rips and tidal hifi.

Hey Dave, do you (or anyone) know when Tidal will "officially" support Chromecast? From what I've read, the issue goes back about a year and all indicators seemed to point to the end of 2015 or very early 2016. I'm sort of waiting for this. Right now I'm in a free trial of Spotify. Hoping Tidal/Chromecast will have things set up when my Spotify trial ends. I'd like to give Tidal a try then decide which I like better.

So far, I'm not overly impressed with Spotify. I may be doing things wrong, but it seems a LOT of what I search for is not in their library. Or, there is a limited number of songs by an artist. I've also noticed that a lot of artist's earlier albums are 're-released' or remastered versions. Sometimes, I just want the original! Looking forward to trying Tidal and comparing.

From what I gather, Tidal's library is even more limited than Spotify. So if your looking for an expansive library, I don't think Tidal is going to be your answer.

I VERY rarely couldn't find what I was looking for in spotify, and it was mostly some obscure independent albums from the 90s. But yes, they are ALL remasters when there is one, but that is true of every streaming type.

If your free trial of spotify premium? Because that could be the problem. Otherwise I'm perplexed, their library is massive (though of course not all encompassing). Tidal's is slightly smaller, but not by much. I have access to so much new (to me), great sounding music that I don't really miss what I can't find. And I still stream my own cd rips from my computer, so that fills in most of the gaps.

The main problem with tidal is integration. I use an Amazon fire tv, and have a squeezebox server on my computer. I used ickstream to get tidal to stream through a third-party squeezebox app on the fire tv. Since I already had it setup for an actual squeezebox, it wasn't much trouble, but I can see how it might be if you are starting from scratch.

I think that your easiest solution might be an older apple airport express (assuming you have an i-device). That way you can airplay tidal, and the the airport does a better job with the music signal than the apple tv...

    Tony/Paul,

Thanks for the input. Paul, to answer your question, yes, my trial is 30 days Premium (I believe $9.99/month after the free trial). Also, to clarify, I may have slightly exaggerated by saying "a LOT" of music I searched for wasn't there. Out of probably 100 - 150 titles I've looked for, I'd say I couldn't find 5-10.

Another minor gripe, and maybe I'm not filtering right, is when I search an artist, I want a complete list of songs, not just the 5 most popular. You can view all albums, but I haven't figured out how to view all songs alphabetically. If I don't know what album a song is from, I need to search again with the song title or look in each album... minor inconvenience.

Now, the casting to the Chromecast Audio is fantastic! No complaints there so far.

I think I'll stick with Spotify for a bit and wait a little. If/when Tidal has better integration, I'll give it a try under this referral.

I don't know when Tidal is supposed to have full Chromecast integration. For me, it's a moot point. I already use BubbleUPnP to stream from my NAS to the Chromecast Audio, so since there's already Tidal integration in Bubble, I have no need for the Tidal app. In fact, I don't even have it installed on the tablet I primarily use to run BubbleUPnP. The Bubble/Tidal integration lets me search, create/access playlist & includes all the main functionality of the Tidal app. Sure I don't get all the flashy stuff on the main Tidal page, but in my limited experience, I don't need it or miss it.

One other cool integration for Tidal is that if you use ickStream through your squeezebox touch it functions perfectly. Not bad for independent development after logitech put the squeezebox support into the can.

Thanks again as it looks like a 3rd joined today.

right, that is exactly what I do, but I no longer actually own any squeezeboxes. But I still have the server on my computer, and stream it through a third party app on my fire tv. Works great!

A free trail should NOT require you to put in a credit card number. I hate that.
Rhapsody use to offer a free 30 day trial on Sonos. No credit card nothing.
