Loving my sound and mentally still wanting to upgrade.

I have a Thread going about testing the Audioquest Jitter bug and in my testing I just realized 1 why I still have the same exact system for over 3 years now and 2 how much I really love the way it sounds.
Signal chain for playing High Rez music is as follows
Power coming from a PS Audio Power Port 20 amp outlet
Audioquest NRG2 power cord going into my APC S15 Power center( no it's not 20amps , don't need that much but I can if the need ever arrives)
Audioquest NRGX3 to my Pioneer Elite SC-68
Audioquest Rocket 44's to my Definitive Technology Mythos ST speakers
Audioquest Carbon USB from the SC-68 internal USB DAC to Audioquest Jitterbug plugged into the USB of my Apple Macbook Pro Retina Solid State Drive
I'm kicking around the idea of upgrading both the Mythos ST to the STL ( which I'll make a new thread about, I installed a pair and man...) and the SC-68 and getting the New SC-99.
I don't hear anything that I need to improve on what I'm running now as I'm totally satisfied but I feel that damn itch , that bug inside that says " it's time to get new stuff"

Hey Dan, scratch away my good man...I know the feeling. As long as you're positive that it'll be an upgrade & not just a lateral move you're good to go. When oh when does it all end????? And yes indeed the new Mythos STL & the Pioneer SC-99 look like killer pieces. Tough decision you have there buddy!
And I'm with you scratching my head as to why Pioneer isn't coming out with a surround pre-pro??? Even Anthem now has a new pre-pro that is geared to the pocket book of us mere mortals. They must know there's a growing market for them."2 Channel & 11.2 HT "Two Channel:Magnepan LRSSchiit Audio Freya S - SS preConsonance Ref 50 - Tube preParasound HALO A21+ 2 channel ampBluesound NODE 2i streameriFi NEO iDSD DAC Oppo BDP-93KEF KC62 sub Home Theater:Full blown 11.2 set up. -
With Onkyo and Pioneer Teaming up next year, I'm really hoping to see one.Dan

Yup, you're due for an upgrade

Have you heard the golden ear triton 1? If not, you should get you ears on a set before jumping.
I have not heard the STL but they look impressive.Klipsch The Nines, Audioquest Thunderbird Interconnect, Innuos Zen MK3 W4S recovery, Revolution Audio Labs USB & Ethernet, Border Patrol SE-I, Audioquest Niagara 5000 & Thunder, Cullen Crossover II PC's. -
I have not but the STL's are impressive and are an upgrade from my ST's.Dan

I think that 3 years is a reasonable length of time to resist upgrading for anyone in the business. Most succumb to the annual temptations of new offerings somewhere throughout their system.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

Upgrade? Don't you need cash for that?
Everytime I see a set of Focal Grande Utopia EMs, I think, Yeah! That would be nice, then I remember I have to RETIRE! lolCurrently orbiting Bowie's Blackstar.!

There was a time where I just thought about what I could buy next. I went through a crazy wire fetish and was buying cables left and right. Most of the time they where just so I can test them against each other.
I wasted a lot of money back then.
