It should slash costs immensely... and, the folks who can actually afford to attend games "live" probably won't sweat the slight incremental cost of a flight to do so.

Player scandals and the growing concern of head trauma is not helping them for sure. I saw a stat that indicated 97% of NFL players show signs of CTE, and kids as young as 15 have been found to have football related impairment. Those numbers alone do not bode well for the long term viability of the sport.

I know revenues are up but I believe they are based on things such as video games sales, merchandise, etc in addition to more traditional things like ticket sales and tv revenues. I have spoke to many people who rather play Madden than watch a weak game between 2 bad teams. My overall point is..... too many teams overall, too many bad teams, and so many poorly played games week after week. I think expansion over the years has watered down the quality of pro football. And there are too many games which adds to the poor quality. Just some thoughts...

Other side is that the stadiums and teams provide jobs which pay taxes... If you don't want to cut a deal to do that then don't do it. These are usually voted on by the taxpayers no? in the form of referendums... and if you don't like the way your city/state spends your money then move.

Plus all of the players, coaches,assistants, trainers, stadium workers, vendors everyone involved pays taxes as well. Just read an article yesterday that q1 was an all time record for revenue into the govt... we don't have a revenue problem we have a spending problem. EVERYONE should pay something or their fair share.

And Hollywood!!! They get tax breaks to make pictures and over pay fat cat actors and actresses with money that we have to pay.

you have to also remember there is only 8 games a year played in the stadium. That means you must have big events year round to support the build, not just the NFL. If it wasn't for the Houston Rodeo, I'm certain there would be no Texans.

Maybe I'm wrong, I dunno, but seems to me tax exempt status is for charitable organizations....not ones making hundreds of millions of dollars.

I know some like to believe tax exempt status is good for start-ups, get them on their feet and such, I disagree though. That tax exempt status never goes away it seems. The NFL got theirs in 1946.....70 years, really ?

Tony don't confuse Tax Exempt status with a Tax Break. Many governments state and local give breaks to "industries" to lure them to provide jobs to taxpayers. There are tax deals all over the country that are done... and at they end of the day the taxpayer gets the bill... Somebody has to pay it.... might as well be you and me.

The NFL has always paid taxes @ the club level. It is the dues paid by team owners that have been tax exempt. In essence the NFL front office has been run as a non profit. The dues paid go to salaries (the commissioner etc) and other overhead items.
