Thanks for the explanation, Richard. If you call Polk's CS department at 1-800-377-7655 they can walk you through teaching the Polk to respond to the TV's remote commands. Then the Dish remote will send an "off" command and the TV and the Polk will respond.
Check with them about getting the sub to go into "standby" when the system is turned off. I don't think there's much power consumption, but check with them to be sure.

  • Hello,
Welcome to Polk's forum. Sometimes if there is sufficient noise in an audio system it will fool the auto on/off into remaining on. What are you providing as a source for your system?
And no, there's really no problem if the auto on/off isn't going into standby mode.

  • Ken, not sure what you mean by "source for the system" but I am with Dish TV and the system was installed by the Dish installer. I use there remote to power on and off the TV. The subwoofer and sound was turning off when I turned off the TV by clicking the TV button on there remote. Now when I do that the screen shuts off but the sound stays on. The only way I can turn off the sound is by clicking the Power button on the remote. This shuts down the system but leaves the subwoofer on?
Should I fuss with it or just leave it as is? Am I using more electricity by leaving the subwoofer on? You already said I am not hurting the subwoofer by leaving it on.

Thanks for responding and ai would appreciate your on my questions above.

    Regards,
    Richard
