Layering only works to an extent before you start to lose mobility.

If i wrap myself in tinfoil, will that help reflect the heat inward?

Yeah well, they'd have to get in line behind me.

I drive forklifts (warehouse and lull), use ladders, concrete chipping guns, bulldogs, etc....Hell, i even care my hammer on most days to whack Boston Rats....

I ordered some Cabela's heavy weight layers last night as well. See how they stack up against the Duofold.

Still, easy stuff in the grand scheme of things. BTW.....nail guns are much more fun on rats. That's my Italian heritage speaking I guess.

A Sup. who works ? Isn't that outside the scope of your job description ? If you get hurt, that may cause you some issues.

No nail guns for this guy. I have that crap at home and laborers love hauling compressors around. I'll stick with my trusted impact gun for a quick fix.

Not very cold in here in Miami, but I have found a way to keep the blood flowing. It's called colada.
Sweet Petunia Jane! A cup of that and you can radiate heat! I'm hooked.
Think espresso X10. No layers needed in the coldest of climates with that stuff. I'm surprised they don't make you have a permit to carry.

yes, those look like the ones. I'd have to see them for sure. As long as they're from a real military supply and not one of those cheap "military surplus" outlets. There's a lot of garbage out there.

I thought twice on the flight gloves last night, though. It's been cold here and I was reminded in-situ that they don't block wind in any significant way, and are only good as a light barrier if you're you're going to be active and not exposed to wind. also not sure how they'd hold up to barn chores. I wear them as a general light winter glove from point A to B driving and stuff, or just hanging out.

We used to wear them in the dock (hangar) while doing inspections on planes in the winter. lots of cold metal. they kept the chill away, but still offered dexterity. hands would still get cold eventually and we'd have to hit the force heaters, but extended work time by a good measure.

I was thinking more on cold proofing last night. One of the things I learned from riding (pedal and motor type) is that if your core is regulated, your extremities don't seem to get as cold. I think I read that it's a circulatory trick, so motorcyclists wear heated vests sometimes. Granted, this is with reasonable hand protection from cold and not bare-skinned. I'm inclined to think that the best bet for gloves may be a 2-layer approach. As others have said - sweating is the enemy here.

    Day:1
    4:30am - 20F
    Projected High - 38F

Although it's not that cold today, i still decided to start the process.
Base - Duofold HeavyWeight Dual Layer - 96% Poly, 4% Something......i forgot. I did go a size smaller than norm (i wear a large) because what i read is you don't want it to be baggy but more snug. My wife commented on the snug-ness. "Hey, is that a beer belly?" Can it preggers!
    2nd Layer - 100% Poly
    Top - Insulated Sweatshirt - 50% Poly 50% Cotton

    I'm sweating my sack off..........

I'll tier it down this morning for sure. If i can make it through the balance of the day without the Sweatshirt, that'll be a good baseline as to where i need to be.

Looks like your cupholders are a science project... WTF is growing out of them... Be careful that Cuban coffee has lotsa sugar... not so much caffeine as the beans are dark roasted.

Find yourself a nice cup of Jamaican Blue Mountain for a caffeine buzz.

And still haven't figured out what's in the cup holder. Gross. Not my truck. Using one of the local fleets. Mine is in Des Moines in Ryan's yard. Did some donuts, buried it to the axles and walked away in slow motion.
