PSW505 not working properly

So I've had a psw505 subwoofer for almost 3 years and it mostly sits. It's occasionally used for music. Recently, it has stopped working properly. It still vibrates slightly but not near how it used too. It remains very quiet no matter what I do to the volume (to the point it only be heard if you put your ear directly on it) but it still tries to play. I have tried it on 2 receivers with no change so I don't belive I am just missing a setting of some kind. Any ideas on what could be causing this or how to fix it? All help is appreciated,
Thanks!
Thanks!

Maybe try a different cable?

The sub is connected to the LFE input. I have tested it on all 3 power switch settings and have adjusted the volume control from low to high. The volume control does make it louder but only slightly as it remains basically silent while at full. I did not check the cable since I figured if the signal was still getting there, it would not be the cable but I will try to find a new one to test.
Thank you! -
Just tried a new cable on both receivers with no change (tried on LFE and line in). Since I didn't have any speakers attached to the old receiver, I could hear the sub more clearly and it occasionally "coughs" for lack of a better word. It sort of sounds like a small pop. It remains very quiet so I'm going to call customer service. Thank you for the help, I'll let you know what they say

I finally found a time when the customer service hold time wasn't an hour and they said it was probably the amp so they're sending me another. Thanks again for all the help!

They didn't ask me to send anything back but the guy said "amp board" so I'm not sure what that entails (I'm a bit new to the audio world).

The new amp came in today and is now installed. It was much easier than I expected, some screws and swapping 2 wires. The sub is now working great! Thanks again everyone!

Sounds similar to what happened to my PSW110, although Polk essentially told me to send it back to quote me a formal repair price (they estimated $150). The tech recommended I buy the PSW505 to replace mine, but I don't see that as an option since it sounds like the 505 suffers from the same issue.
