  • Tony,
Do you know a dish called Maness, spelling?, pronounced "Ma ness"? I have a friend at work of Italian decent that mentioned it to me and is comprised of ham and cabbage. He's not forthcoming on the exact recipe and I can't find anything by ways of mr. Goggle. I love cabbage.

Don't know if this is just their family recipe or something more of a common Italian dish not known by others.

Never heard of it myself, could just be a family thing from marriages of different ethnic backgrounds. Italians normally don't use cabbage too often, that's more of an Irish thing. The Irish and Italians made good company back then.....still do.

When Italians use Ham, it's salted, hung and dried....we call it Prosciutto. Spain has their own version too which is also very good. The pig is very big in Spain.
