    We live in town in the middle of Wyoming. We've seen deer, antelope, wild turkeys, Hungarian partridges, black bear, fox, mountain lions, etc. in our neighborhood. A 15 minute drive up the mountain adds elk, bald eagles, pheasant, sage grouse, etc. A few hours west adds moose and grizzly bear. I love the middle of nowhere!

    Today's visitor. Smallest snake I have ever seen. like 4" long. It's called the Florida Ringneck Snake but they are in many states and very common. They are venomous but not to humans as their venom glands are in the back of their mouths and couldn't bite and inject a human. They are actually non aggressive and friendly to humans.

    We also have native the longest snake in NA, the eastern indigo. They are amazing! We have seen one over 10' here and it wasn't fully grown. They are very docile, non-venomous and eat rattlesnakes, water moccasins and copperheads. Gotta' love that, but they will definitely scare you when they raise their head out of the grass to scope things out - and you didn't know they were there.

    Cool thing about this snake is that it is small and docile. only reaches 10 inches or so.

    Now there is this guy which is bigger than Blue's indigo which is NA's longest native snake ,,, but this is an intrusive species that is taking over the everglades.

    You can keep the 'gators and Pythons. I have a problem with sharing my living areas with things that can eat me....call me crazy and all that.

    As many times as I've been to Florida, it never ceases to amaze me how some can put a swing set 20 ft from the waters edge and 50-100 ft away from the house.
