A coworker gave me this the other day said I might be interested a 90 day free trial to tidal. I asked him what he knew about it, he said not a thing as someone gave it to him. I was wondering if anyone uses Tidal here and what their thoughts were on it, are you really streaming HI Rez files? The packaging sure is fancy!

Tidal streaming is CD quality. It is much improved since it't inception. I started with Pandora then Spotify Premium and now Tidal. Tidal is by far the best SQ... Give it a try..

There are a couple other threads here about it, you should search around.

Long story short, you are streaming CD quality flac files. Compared to other services like spotify, the sound quality is MUCH better, but hi-rez is obviously a marketing ploy.

I have basically stopped buying CDs. I figured at 20 bones a month I could buy CDs for the rest of my life and I wouldn't have 5000, and their library is well over 20,000. I rarely can't find something I really want, although some indie stuff from my college days is missing.

As a service, as this point I am satisfied and plan on sticking with it for the foreseeable future. Out of the gates they had some problems, and I know Skip had some very specific issues. But I have none at this point. No drops, hiccups, software runs fine, etc. I say give it a shot.

I haven't got around to trying out this service. I think after the Holidays I will. Seems like it could be the best one out there.

Well I will pass on Tidal even with the voucher code for ninety days free if it hasn't been already used anyone is welcome to it. I still have to have my Sirius XM, and Netflix don't really need to tack on another $20 a month for only CD quality as I have read some reviews that it is no where near HI Rez quality. I already own enough music to where I never run out of stuff to listen to. Thanks for the input everyone.

No, I didn't use the code, just pointing it out. Didn't get a chance to listen through the main rig, just through computer speakers. More curious about their database and it seems like all the competitors pretty much have the same songs. Free for 30 days, what the heck, I'll give it a try.

"The biggest issue with Tidal I had was not being able to bypass the horrible Windows sound driver. As long as you don't plan on using the Tidal software to stream the music, you should be golden." That's a bummer. Hope they change that.

On a side note regarding streaming services, I find it interesting that my friend ripped a few rare songs from LP to MP3 (clicks and pops are quite obvious) and uploaded them to Grooveshark a couple years ago. Grooveshark was shut down and now those songs are on Spotify and he never uploaded them there. I wonder how Spotify acquired them?

Just listened to songs Power Drunk, U Get Me High, Burnt Out Town and Shadow People from Tom Petty's impressive latest release, Hypnotic Eye. I had the CD playing on input 2 of the amp and at the same time on input 4 the songs were being played from Tidal through an HRT DAC via laptop (volume control on the computer and Tidal were both at 100%). The songs sounded louder and much more dynamic on the CD compared to streaming from Tidal.

I haven't joined any streaming services since Grooveshark was shut down, however, this comparison prompts me to check out other companies.
