I swear - I have like some attention disorder...

I swear... I can't sit still in 1 spot without feeling like I'm going crazy.

Right now, I'm in a little room with a TV, a table, and a bed and a bathroom. Picture a 3 star hotel room... not great but not bad.

I've been here for 10 hours now, I have 2 more hours to go. I have the TV on, the computer is on like 6 different websites and a few forums.

This is my part time gig... and I'm like itching to go home. Other coworkers love working like this but for some reason I'm a little indifferent.

I don't know how my other coworkers can do it, how they can do this for 24 or 48 or 60 hours straight.

I can barely do this for 12 hours.

Either something is wrong with me or I have some serious attention issues.

Anyway, I just wanted to post.

It's because you are a determined individual and feel like you are wasting time. I'm that way and hate those jobs.

My friend loves working here... he does two 24 hour shifts a month. He says it's like a vacation from his kids and wife, like a clubmed but where he gets paid. He texted me last time - he went to work out, went to get a haircut and showered, napped and slept.

As for me, I sit here wondering when the next patient will come in and call me out of my little cave (room).. so I keep checking my pager.

When I tried to do a 24 hour shift here, I was like up all night just waiting.

TOday, atleast I went out to burger king, got some food, some chocolate pie, booked a trip, and read up on some speakers, took an hour nap. So maybe I am getting better at this, but I'm still kinda....

... anxious for lack of a better term.

And I am itching to go home.... 80 minutes left.

Wife has that. This thread is hitting me on all cylinders... Except for the booking trips part.

I was put in charge of booking a trip to WDW...

So that was a check off my list.

Saw the hotel bill and I was like... dang, I'm glad I picked up the shift. :#

I too have this problem most of the time I think that the cake is done and I don't bake. Did you know that human heart weighs only 2.3 pounds boiled? That is without the wild rice stuffing though.

When I used to travel all the time- it was all work.
I preferred it that way. Other guys liked to go the the hotel
    and booze it up.
They used to send me out to do 2 man jobs by myself.
Now I do remote support, and our contractors send 3 guys!

My boss just texted me, he is doing the same thing, part timing at a place, but he's there for 24h. He just worked out in the room and did like push ups and sit ups.... now he's watching netflix and taking a nap.

Still don't get how doing a 24h shift is routine... it takes me a lot of prepping to do that. Mentally (I have to have a day off before and after the shift) and physically (bring stuff to do, etc).

    Agreed.

As I was walking out I saw a patient getting wheeled in...

I was like "peace. See ya" to the other doc.

Reminds me of Independence Day when will smith yells out "peace!" 2 finger peace sign out.
