Monitor 10/5jr stands

I have a pair of Polk Monitor 10s with stands I built, (they are crude but do the job). These are my basement work speakers. I also have a pair of 5jrs. I have these in a Home theater set up as the front speakers. IF I build stands for these, should I make them similar to the 10 factory stands with the tilt or just build them so the go straight up? I am assuming the tweeters should be at about ear level.

The 6 degree rear incline, is the "poor man's" time alignment. Your new stands should incorporate that.Home Theater/2 Channel:

I thought the lean only applied since the speakers were near floor level. When they are on the Polk stands near floor level the front baffle is supposed to be 90 degrees to line of sight when looking directly at the speaker. Is this incorrect?
I have Monitor 7's straight on stands tall enough to put the tweeters at ear level when seated in the listening position. If I angled them back 6 degrees at the current height the tweeters would be firing at the ceiling. It is quite possible I have been doing it wrong and just did not know but it sounds right.

It's for time alignment only. If your 7s sound good to your ears, leave them.
Some higher end manufacturers have staggered front baffles, with the tweeter, midrange and woofer all at slightly different distances from your ears.
Polks method is simpler. 6 degrees will not have them firing at the ceiling.
The domes are hemispheres. The have a relatively equal radiation pattern well over 90 degrees. If they didn't, then SDAs wouldn't work. You don't see horns or paper cone tweeters on SDAs, as they're too directional.

Thank you so much. I understand why the tilt is there now. Much appreciated. -

I did not lnow this. Thanks Dave. -
The only reason I chimbed in was to parrot back what I was told by the dealer way back when in Cape Girardeau. They used to tell customers the angle of lean was determined by how close or far from the speakers one listened.
Now I have to build new stands. -

That's why generalizations can be bad. For certain types of speakers, that recommendation would apply. Just as toe-in can be critical for some speaker, but not so with others. If you read some of the early reviews on the Monitors and RTAs, the measured on axis and off axis responses were nearly identical in most cases. Listening tests also confirmed this. When driven hard, even soft dome tweeters will start to beam however, becoming more directional.Home Theater/2 Channel:

There is one maker who kinda insists that you use the tilt stands. Vandersteen and those tilt sound anchor stands. Richard Vandersteen himself said all this at a store showing of his Signature 3As. The tilting of the sock style speakers again was to angle the tweeters to listening seated position. .
