Yep, great 4th quarter. Though I do think the Broncos benefited and saved their arses from a B.S. holding call late in the 4th with 3rd and goal.

One call doesn't win or lose football games. But glad they got a break

  • It was great to finally see the Pats lose... The officiating did seem to be one sided though, that penalty on Gronk for the push off was a stretch. Really enjoyed the game and it is good that Gronk's injury isn't serious....now I hope the Browns make my 3hr trip to Cleveland worth my time tonight :)

Well, at least it appears EVERY team is experiencing poor calls--which kind of evens things out. What a mess. During the 49'ers/Cards game, the morons lost count on what down it was! It took about 8 minutes for them to figure it out.

I did call a Pats loss on this one! Congrats to Denver and the NEW crew, they really needed to nudge Peyton out and it helped!

Pats, pretty much playing without half their offensive receivers, still hung in there, and that was "surprising" against, what is supposedly the "best" defense in the AFC?

One thing we KNOW is that you SHOULD NOT PEAK TOO EARLY if you want to get to the big GAME! And the Pats may have done just that! So I expect them to exit the playoffs in the second round. A number of teams are surging, and no one has found a way to beat the Panthers yet?? Really?

I think we could be in for a BIG surprise as to what teams will be in the SB. I wouldn't even go out on the limb to predict anything at this point, things are getting interesting, changing!

Exactly, when we had our annual fantasy draft league party and were chatting who were going to be top teams this year, I don't think anyone mentioned

Uh, yeah it does when that call is late in the 4th quarter. Denver would have most likely had to turn over the ball.

As it panned out though, that call gave them the needed touchdown and a shot at OT, which they then won.

The calls this season have been horrible, for everyone.

....and can somebody tell me wtf is going on with N.O.? When you start getting beat up by the Titans, something is off kilter.

Case in point Dan, bad calls/no calls do decide football games on occasion.

Gronk's OPI was called because Gronk had his forearm in front of him and at contact straightened it out. To the ref it appears as pushing off.

The D-holding call on Chung was too picky, but when I watched a replay in slo-motion I can see why the flag was thrown, Chung's hand caught on v-collar of the WR for a split second.

During the game I also saw three distinct times where Von Miller was blatantly held with no call. All came after Miller's stupid late hit on Brady. I call that a subtle additional consequence for what could have been an injury.

Finally, Osweiller got clocked on a no call late hit, that only gets called with an established QB.

As mad as the Pat fans are about the officiating, the stats tell a lot: 16 carries for only 39 yards. The big one, 2 for 13 on third down.

True. But what's sad is that a banged up Pats team still managed 24 points against said Defense. What if they had ALL their pieces in play?

If the Patriots have shown anything it's that they can win with anyone on the field, the sports media almost unanimously gushes over that constantly...can't praise a team for that ability and then just blame a loss on that. The Broncos were also missing key players on defense so that argument can go both ways,

People here are talking about Brock being the new guy at QB, he's won a couple games but hasn't played as great as people seem to think, the running game is what kept us in the game and ultimately won it last night. I'm not saying put Peyton back in yet, but the jury is still out on Brock.

I also agree with markmarc on the calls, bad calls and missed calls happen all the time....unless it's literally on the last play of the game Ike a couple of the college games this year I don't think you get to credit a win or loss on a call. I still think that calls need to be reviewable though, because they definitely tip the scales for sure and anything that important needs replay if we're gonna have replay at all.

All that being said, I still think the Patriots are the class of the league and if I had to put down $100 today on one team winning it all it would be them. I could care less if they're cheaters because after seeing that whole mess earlier this year I'm convinced everyone cheats anyway. I'm still not a fan personally, but there's no denying how great they are.

Denver had some Injuries on Defense as well and they still had Brady.
