The walls are loaded up with Roxul / Mineral Wool instead of fiberglass which makes a huge difference just knocking on the walls with you hand. Roxul is nasty stuff though....

Yes it is unpleasant (rock wool, that is) -- I remember (at least I think I remember!) my parents' house & attic was insulated with that stuff; it wasn't pleasant to spend too much time in the attic.

    The room/space looks great!

Polk 703s, NAD 356 integrated, TEAC 1000 CD player, Yammy T1 Tuner, APC H15 power condtioner....I have a 15" Sealed Epik sub. which may or may not be needed for music...may keep the sub in the HT room. I do need a real rack soon...as well as a tuner for streaming music.

Congrats! The place looks great. Integrating a subwoofer with those 703's might prove to be a challenge due to the powerful midbass.
Im thinking of not even messing with a smaller sub and focus on other gear.

Congrats on the hard work, and I know how hard it is as I've done a few home renos but it is sure a great feeling when it done.

Carpet is in but I have to cut a bit off the bottom of one door....suggestions?
Im guessing a skill / circular saw with a fine blade (more teeth...)

attach a guide to the bottom of the door for the saw edge to follow

^This^ I use quick clamps and a 4 ft level. I also suggest masking tape along your cut line. It can help protect from a raggedy finished cut.

The clamps and a straight edge will definitely help an inexperienced cutter from walking all over the place. I even still use them.

OR, you could jack out the entire basement and re-pour. But that requires a couple hours/days/weeks and a few ten-grand. I'd suggest cutting the door....

You can use a skillsaw with a good blade, to insure you get a clean cut please use a straigth edge and make sure it's clamped well. And of course always double check your measurements.

Yup, taped bith sides and set up a guide with a longer level and 2 clamps. They came out reaaaaal nice. Plus, I have an extra 3/4" tall piece to re use on the last door to the basement which has almost a 1" gap due how the house was originally framed. I plan on adding this extra piece with screws and glue before painting to cut down on the noise from yelling better half and kids which transmits right to the basement.
