Crackling coming from center speaker; completely baffled

So I got my lsim 706c and 705's today, and was obviously excited to get going with them.

We started watching Jurassic World and there was noticeable crackling from only the center speaker during "heavy" bass scenes. I have a sub, crossovers have been tried at both 40/80hz.

What I really don't understand is I switched back to my previous 704c, and the same thing happened. I made one of the 705's the center, the same thing. Tried an older rti6, same. So my immediate thought is the center channel has gone bad on that receiver. I try a different Yamaha receiver I have, and the SAME THING is happening, with all of the above speakers. I also switched out the speaker wire.

What the heck is going on?

That doesn't leave much. Assuming it's not something in the sound track, then your source or what you are using to connect your source to your AVR.

  • Unbelievable.....I solved the problem right after I posted.

It was my blu ray software on my pc. I switched to a PS3, problem solved.
  • I have not noticed any crackling from the bluray and I have watched it twice near reference levels. I'd expect something is up with the cables.
Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant
