Where do you think the term ISIL came from?
Mikey, we shouldn't have been in Iraq in the first place. Bush got bad advice and ran with it. (or this c+ student is smarter that I've given him credit for)

    Can't agree...

Hussein and his sons were butchering 10's of thousands of people...bulldozing them into holes in the desert. Human beings. If he could have done the damage that Germany did in the 1930's he would have. We cannot let or stand for appeasing these people until it takes 50 million lives to fix again.. Better to face it early and swiftly. His sons were worse than him. He thumbed his nose at the UN and was warned many times over. His weapons went to Syria. We are dealing with that now. Where do you think Assaad got the mustard gas? Very popular to say Iraq was a mistake. Do we think the world would be a better place with Hussein and his sons still in power? You might want to read up on his barbarism.

Iraq was won 54-7 with 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter and we walked of the field.

Is anyone proposing we just sit here and let this escalate? because it will.

The only thing I disagree with is how the term ( we ) is used those that say it and have served thier country go ahead and say it those that haven't STFU, a lot of our troops are giving thier lives for a meaningless war and a lot of those that say we would never volunteer and help our Brothers in arms. I'm not directing this towards anyone just tired of hearing people say we for the past 20 some years. If we keep meddling in thier business they will keep meddling in ours, this will only get worse it's a mighty big hornets nest we knocked down, and knocked it down is all we have done.

Mike, you may want to cite your souces with this statement. I think we all were dupped into thinking invading Iraq was a good idea at the time, but time has shown the effort to be a failure. Our history of meddling in the Middle East has proven to be detrimental to our own security, starting with us propping up the Shaw of Iran, which facilitated the Iranian revolution. Then we supported Saddam for years as a,counter measure to the hostile regime in Iran. I have a friend and colleague who is from this part of the world and he summed it up with two points:
    1. Many middle eastern regimes use religion for politcal purposes, first and foremost.
    2. Many of these countries need a dictatorship, because the only alternative would be chaos....which we are seeing now.

On 9/11....I view as a complete failure of our security aparatus to protect us. All of the hijackers were on the FBIs radar, paid cash for one way tickets and took over the aircraft with BOX CUTTERS. So simple, yet completely preventable.

Really? We're going to get into an argument after so much violence and death, simply because our ideologies "differ"? Isn't this a time to unite and stop splitting apart and fueling fires of hate and ethnocentrism? Come on boys and girls, we're adults last time I looked. And what we think isn't going to matter much to those perpetrating these acts but our actions, which INCLUDE those toward each other on this site, do have an effect!

Didn't say he funded 9/11. That is unproven. But inconclusive. He did fund and provide safe haven for terror. That is proven. He and his sons were savages. His weapons ended up in Syria for Asaad's use.

Looks like they have better weapons than box cutters now.

The use of force in Iraq passed the Senate by a vote of 77 to 23, and the House by 296 to 133. The house and senate majorities were controlled by ? I know... they voted for it before they voted against it..

None of this has anything to do with the way we cut and ran from Iraq which is the real root cause of the rise of ISIS. When we committed as a nation to rid ourselves of terror we took a half measure and didn't finish the job. As I mentioned earlier the director of the FBI is asking for more staff to deal with the numbers of ISIS already in the US. It hasn't been approved. What do we do? Lay down?

So in your opinion when do we take action? What action needs to be taken...

"So in your opinion when do we take action? What action needs to be taken..."

In my estimation, all the decent, non-Muslim citizens of the world need to unite & initiate a holy war of their own. (against the radical Muslims) Rain Holy Hell down on them... all the way back to the stone age. What incredible hubris..... to think they'll succeed in either converting or killing everyone that doesn't subscribe to their perverted "religious beliefs" ;)
