Stop their funding by not purchasing their oil. Prices will rise but all the oil workers here in the south will be able to go back to work.

In a sense, but do you think these actions would cease if all of western civilized nations pulled out?

I don't think so. They would continue to manifest and become more powerful. Then we would be turning the clock back 300 years and continue to go backwards from there.

It's never been about the need for oil. It's always been about oil dollars.

  • Of course they (Saudis) do nothing. They even fund the Madrasahs in their own country, so the radical elements don't try to overthrow the House of Saud. These are our so-called "friends"

When you treat a disease, the best efficacy derives from treating the cause versus the symptoms. The Saudis have exported and funded their radical Islamic belief system throughout nearly all of northern Africa and the Mideast. We can thank them for 9/11 and much of the other turmoil in the region. They behead and crucify their citizenry for the slightest political provocation and women aren't even second class citizens.

    Oil money makes strange bedfellows.

I may be wrong on this perception. I believe we have a lot more oil here than what is ever disclosed, but we are also the largest consumers. There is cheap labor and no gov't environmental regulations that keeps it cheap to drill in the middle east. Although there is an abundance of oil in the middle east it will eventually dry up Dubai for example. I think the U.S. foresees the eventual collapse of the middle east oil, leaving us the one with the control. This may take a century or more but that is still in the foreseeable future.

Plus amidst all the chaos and unrest we (U.S.) maybe forced to shut down oil imports and remain living on Our/Canadian reserves.

I guess this is what happens when you have rules of engagement and try to take on an enemy that has none. We worry about hurting people's feelings and not offending their religion, then the enemy straps bombs to people, they walk into buildings and crowds and blow themselves up.

Massive force to accomplish.....what? Over....where? We have no idea what we are doing over there....we are clueless. We blew up Iraq and what happened...we de stabilized the entire middle east even more. I apologize if this post comes off as snarkey, but just some points to consider.

Guess you didn't read the other posts...

NONE of this would have happened if we managed our retreat from Iraq responsibly. If it is your position just to sit back and wait to see what happens then that is your position. We battled in Iraq and then we left a vacuum for all of this to happen. We let our people die for NOTHING.What would have been wrong with leaving 10 or 15,000 troops in Iraq to prevent EXACTLY this. We still have troops in Germany, Japan and other areas of the world. The only thing that they will understand is massive force. When we act like pussies they do this.

    Can't agree...

Hussein and his sons were butchering 10's of thousands of people...bulldozing them into holes in the desert. Human beings. If he could have done the damage that Germany did in the 1930's he would have. We cannot let or stand for appeasing these people until it takes 50 million lives to fix again.. Better to face it early and swiftly. His sons were worse than him. He thumbed his nose at the UN and was warned many times over. His weapons went to Syria. We are dealing with that now. Where do you think Assaad got the mustard gas? Very popular to say Iraq was a mistake. Do we think the world would be a better place with Hussein and his sons still in power? You might want to read up on his barbarism.

Iraq was won 54-7 with 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter and we walked of the field.

Is anyone proposing we just sit here and let this escalate? because it will.

Mikey, we shouldn't have been in Iraq in the first place. Bush got bad advice and ran with it. (or this c+ student is smarter that I've given him credit for)

    It's this is simple:

A concept of the ONLY proper ordering principle for civilization that was conceived in the 6th century has been festering for centuries, and now it is reasserting itself through a large and effective group of fanatics who are being allowed to run rough-shod over their fellow so-called "moderate" Muslims.

Either we eradicate this threat to our way of life, or we and our children and their children live or die with it forever.

Talking about what we face -- even in the context of the past century, let alone the last 20 or so years -- misses the crux of the problem and, therefore, cannot lead to a permanent solution.

Should we have striven to contain Nazism?

The solution to the "Middle East problem" that was implemented after WWII has failed miserably, and this was an attempt to deal with the surface and not eliminate the root cause. Of course, this was also complicated by the establishment of Israel.

    Just MHO.

We have to realize that Islam is NOT simply a religion.

It is a comprehensive design for what human "civilization" MUST be according to specifications laid down by an individual who lived 1,400 years ago. It includes a social hierarchy, a religion, a legal system, and a political system.

Among its specifications is one that is to eradicate all who do not accept the one true "civilization."

    There is no compromise.

What does that imply for us?

    ^THIS^

We have to realize that Islam is NOT simply a religion.

It is a comprehensive design for what human "civilization" MUST be according to specifications laid down by an individual who lived 1,400 years ago. It includes a social hierarchy, a religion, a legal system, and a political system.

Among its specifications is one that is to eradicate all who do not accept the one true "civilization."

    There is no compromise.

What does that imply for us?

    ^THIS^

We bomb ISIS every day... a bomb here a drone there..

It is time to quit half measures and kill the head of the snake. There are plenty of targets. Time to let them know we will not tolerate them...
